My team and I (mostly entertainment-related marketing) are trying to break this one artist we just took on the roster. Very unique and ballsy compared to the over-saturated noise you've been hearing for the past 10 years, respectively.

With the power of knowledge everyone on BHW has within IM FB Twitter & YouTube, I know we can break this kid out the roof through the web. A fusion of Hip-Hop & Rock - young caucasian from Brooklyn, New York. "The Hip-Rock Star"

Before we make our moves on the project, I would be ETERNALLY GRATEFUL on hearing your professional suggestions. What would you say are the most effective outlets to make this into a viral BOMB? We can use a single, a video, some kind of stunt. Patiently waiting.

My friend ran Cudis online stuff. But the thing is people really like Cudi even though he had very limited traditional media exposure. Has this guy got a lot of experience in the music business? Shows? Any artists he can be seen with?

Well for free youre not getting anything but I would say for about 200$ you could buy software for these 3 websites

We dont wanna do the traditional way of breaking a artist. With technology growing, we need some kind of stunt...hmmmmm anything ? Theres been acts who blew from myspace and soulja boy from youtube lol. I dont know who used fb to blow up yet. Maybe a certain viral fanpage, with a catchy video app that makes people "like" and share it before viewing it? lol that would be dope, now to just find the computer wiz to do it, dunno where.

can you reveal anything? like the methods he used to promote kid cudi?

I can ask him more when I see him. Obviously he had the big budget to work with.

I'm friends with a lot of people in independent bands. Nobody really famous, but people who go on tour and have a fan base in America and Europe. Then there's people who play in bars and basements locally. None of them are great at marketing but they have their facebook pages with their photos, music, calendars, etc. With FB it seems like it's really about getting in the news feed. That's mainly when one of a few things happen.

1. Someone likes them for the first time. Shows up in the news feed and anyone else who is a fan also likes this naturally and of course anyone who is just on there killing time might get curious and either like it or not like it.

2. When event invites for a show go out, people get notifications. Now IF they RSVP as attending, that information shows up in the news feed. This allows other people to see the event, where you can put a link to the page. You can also do events for stuff that isn't really events. Release of a video, album, just a new track, whatever.

3. When someone shares something that the artist posts. It can be a web link or just a status update. Keeps the feeling personal just like with celebrity accounts. On Twitter, they retweet and on facebook they share, which reposts to the persons profile and into their news feed appearing as if it's coming from the artist. This is great because it's a personal message in all their friends feed.

The same kind of stuff goes on with Twitter, but with Facebook it's like it's made for media. When someone clicks you've already got the music player loaded, maybe a youtube video ready to go, photos, graphics.

I'm sure there's more but this is just what I've noticed others doing. To start the growth you can start off with the guys friends and ask any other artists that are on facebook to post a link.

I'd say, do it old skool.
Give a show from a high rooftop on a busy crossroad. Get a crowd make sure traffice jams and get done by the police. Have your press releases ready and alert the press during the show.

Or all viral 2.0:
Get a huge sound system set up next to a tall building next to a busy road and project a music video on the building.

Yeah, I listened to it also. Nothing special... I was going to offer my services, but given the low budget, and in my opinion lack of talent, I can't help. If the price was right I could figure something out, but it's not. Don't get me wrong, he's not bad, but he's just not great.
