I have had instances where my order form impressions were greater than my hop counts for particukar CB products. How could this be so. Has anyone else seen this phenomena in their analytics? Any ideas how this could happen?

I have never hardcoded my links so I don't know why the stats show up this way. The only thing I can think of is CB analytics are not 100% accurate.

Ok I think what the problem is, I've had similar problems when ordering from clickbank myself.

Sometimes when you try to order from clickbank using 2 different credit cards within the same week the order form will keep giving you an error so you keep trying over and over.

It could also be that they are trying to use some stolen credit card information to make orders, but clickbank has a built-in IP tracking thingy so they need to try many times LOL

Well that could happen if you had a direct link to the order page as was already mentioned.

It could also happen if someone followed your hoplink to the sales page and clicked on the order form. Then came back later and just went directly to the sales page and then clicked on the order form again. The second time the cookie will still be set but there isn't a hop involved. It could even happen on the same visit. Someone clicks on the order form, looks at the order page, then goes back to the sales page and then clicks on the order link again.

Affiliates could easily hardcode the order link and directly link to the order page.

That could be the reason why this is happening.
i dont think they get commissions in that case..! do they? :/
That depends. If they set up the link right then the order form will load with their affiliate id and they'll get their commission. Unless the visitor already has a previous clickbank cookie set. A hoplink will overwrite the first cookie, but a direct link to the order form won't. So sending visitors directly to the order form can possibly loose some commissions for the affiliates. If it's not likely that a cookie was already set then it's sometimes worthwhile for affiliates that can write better salespages to take the risk.

Nice explanation Greywolf. When I have a click bank sale, it is always 2 or 3 order form impressions and just one sale. I know it is the same person because I have generated sales from countries around the world. I had one recently that said Greece - 1 Sale but 3 order form impressions and just 1 hop count from a person in Greece. I think it was the same Greek guy who looked at the order page three times before deciding to spend his money. :)

@ramsweb, @greywolf and @erickcreed thanks for the great feedback!
