Some n00b questions regarding keyword research

Well guys i am not much into blogging and all that and now a days as I am somewhat free I have read that fatcat adsense blue print and so after reading the book upto a certain chapter where he will tell us about finding good niches and all that I got some motivation and wanted to make a blogger blog, adsense it and make some money. So I have made a search on my hard disk and found some good stuff which is not shared in any website (as they are written by a person who is a frnd of mine) so I have opened the google adwords keyword tool and searched for the niche and found that the exact keyword is getting like 16,600,000 searches and the competition is also low for the keyword, so now when i search using this keyword in spyfu it was getting all the gud clicks and some good cost\day and all that and now when i google for the keyword I have found that all the sites in top 10 are having around 30K inlinks in yahoo site explorer do u think that this is a good niche to start off my blog???
Also the keyword which is next to it is also having like 7,480,000 searches and is also less competition and this one is also having competition like the previous one and now I moved down the list and found some other good keywords which are having like 2,240,000 searches but when I typed this keyword in spyfu it is saying like that it can give only 250-316 clicks/day but when 2,240,000 divided by 30 is not 250-316 right??
So which one should I believe in??

And btw guys I forgot to mention the kw which is having like 2,240,000 searches is easy to rank in as I have found out by googling that the ones which are in top 10 are having like 500 backlinks at the maximum

Never assume anything The site may only have 500 backlinks but:

1) Maybe 100 of them are PR4+
2) How old is the domaim
3) How many pages does the domain have
4) How fresh is the cache age (how often does google crawl the page)
5) Is the post optimised (Title,URL,Meta,head_
6) Does it have .edu inbound
7) Is it in Yahoo directory / DMOZ
8) What's the sites PR

Also do a PR analysis of inbound links as I've said it could have 50 PR5,100 PR4,200 PR3 and the rest PR2-PR0 which would make it tricky to out rank

Now that's unlikely I know but unless you've done the research what looks like easy pickings could have you banging your head against the wall!

Dude I cannot figure out all that so I have downloaded market samurai trial and done some analysis of the keyword and it said that the keyword is having a competition (SEOC) of less than 50,000 which is recommended in the book that it is easier to rank for this sort of competition so with this kind of competition and by building some pretty good profile backlinks, blog commenting, bookmarking and all that can I beat these big guys???

SEOC by itself doesn't mean much by itself. In MS select the keyword and go to the SEO Competition module that's where you'll find the data I've talked about.

Then pick one of the top ten sites (the first one would be best) then click the little green upside down triangle. That opens up and shows two main tabs. Pick the PR Analysis one and wait until complete.

MS will then show you all the backlinks to the site along with how many for PR0-PR10.
That way you can get an idea of how good his backlinks are.

If you've got the content available there's no harm in trying.

As far as the competition yeah you want to check out all of their backlinks. PR is a useful metric but you also want to see if they're from extremely relevant or authoritative sources. When I do white hat SEO I count on a handful of backlinks counting as the majority of linking power. Completely different than blackhat so try not to think in terms of numbers.

Well thank u guys for all these answers!!
After doing some stuff in seo competition module i have found out some 20 keywords which are having like some 1000 searches everyday and regarding the backlinks i have seen that these guys are having like 800 backlinks or so. So iam gng to start the blogs in these niches and want to expand soon to like 300 or so blogs. So guys tell me if there are any other free tools or even cracked ones which are available in bhw(not ms coz most of the times the cracked copy doesnt work) that can provide me the kind of service provided by the seo competition module of ms!!!
