I remember when I was a kid.. I used to think that Black and White movies were really black and white in real life... I thought life was all in black and white back then....

And when my mom had a credit card, I thought it was free money.. Like you could buy anything with a little piece of plastic without paying anyone back...

Kids. You gotta love their innocence. My daughter used to think that credit cards, checks, etc. were all forms of free payment. If she wanted something expensive, and I used the old standby, "well I don't have the money for that today", she would respond with, "why don't you just pay for it with the credit card or write a check"...lol. I guess it is difficult for kids to conceptualize money if they can't physically see it or touch it.

So, last year, she decided that she wanted an 1p0d. I thought that this would be a perfect opportunity for her to learn that those babies don't grow on trees. I told her that she could save her allowance, tooth fairy money, birthday money, etc. to get one. So, after about six months, she finally had enough money to buy the device. I had her sit down with me, we went to the 4ppl3 website and bought one (put it on my credit card). Then, I proceeded to go into her room, get her piggy bank, and take out the exact amount it cost for the 1p0d. We then proceeded to go to the bank and deposit the money into my account. Needless to say, she no longer believes that credit cards equal free money...

Haha, similar to the credit card thing. I thought my mom could write any amount as long as she had a check book. I thought it was an unlimited amount of spending money. Dang, only if it were that easy...

I thought that money grew on trees because my mom had been at Honda for 17 years when I was really young so she was making some pretty damn decent money.

Well, Workman's comp won't pay her anymore from all the life time injuries she's sustained from working in a factory. Now I realize that it was so silly to think money grew on trees..
