I'm in Canada, and all of our searches redirect through google canada

I have a site that is the exact domain search.

For example if a do a search on google canada for keyword keyword

My site keywordkeyword comes up 5th currently.

The site holding the number one spot has no onsite optimization and they have 7 backlinks.

I have about 600 backlinks currently.

My site is about 6 months old, and the site is spot one is about 6 years old.

I thought the reason for this was because I have been doing my hosting through a US company and I was considering switching to a Canadian hosting company.

However, upon further research, the site holding the number one spot is also hosted in the US.

Is there anyone who can take a look at this with me to try to help me determine what I need to do in order to gain the top spot?

Thanks,
Matt

Its not easy to just get to no 1 with a 6months old site. You need to overcome different hurdles backlinks alone cannot get you to no 1...My suggestions are

- U use market samurai free version to analyse your competition in terms of their off page and on page optimization

- You use other softwares to to analyse the quality of your backlinks b4 posting them....its the quality of the backlinks that matter not quantity

Good Luck

i think you need on-page seo for your website for every page. try to hire an expert for your analysis.

Hi here is my opinion:
Your site is 6th month old and your competition 6 years...so to rank 1st you`ll need very high quality backlinks, also quality content on your site, and on-site optimization.
If you don`t know how to make the on-site optimization, check for this software:Internet Business Promoter, that will help you a lot.

how many years / months old is your domain? sometime it has some factors to your ranking on google

any chance you could tell us the keyword you are trying to rank for? id like to take a look at this. stuff like this intrigues me

I may be out of bounds on this, but I would be interested to see what happened if you DID go with a Canadian host over your competitor with US hosting. To keep it interesting you would have to do this and nothing else as an experiment. Not that I expect you to do just that alone to entertain me, but entertain and interest me it would indeed. In any case, I would get Canadian hosting along with anything else just to give myself an edge. Keep us updated!

Your backlinks probably doesnt have diversety and might be from spam.

i've seen some website with 19k BL ...and its top for insurance keywords
beating lots of website like gocompare (like geico in usa)

Make sure your registrar data reflects your Canadian address.

Don't bother with the host change, it won't help.

Add 3 more years to your domain registration.

Do a press release for links from more authority sites.

Make sure you have some onpage optimization for that keyword.

Also check out where your competition got their links from, and get some links from there too.

That should about do it.
