Caution! Duplicate Post Eraser's little secret

I've tried this on several themes but can conclude that the plugin "Duplicate Post Eraser" will insert an invisible snippet into your theme. In the advanced newspaper theme from Gabfire, its inserted right below the featured posts. (see the attachments with the red arrow). Moreover, this also happens on self-made themes.

When disabling the plugin, the code disappears.

However I wasn't able to find anything in the code of the plugin, so I have no idea where it comes from.

Also check the other attachments. Can someone else confirm this? Just install it right from the WordPress.org database and check your blog's source code.

The previous version was known as "duplicate post eraZer" (not with an "s")

It is there in the plugin code, you just have to scroll down past the white space between the main code and the code that adds the link. You'll see this comment:

/*
If you like my work, please leave the snippet below.
Otherwise, just delete it, and the plugin will still work as normal.
*/

If you don't want the link delete everything after:

add_action('publish_post', 'clearDuplicatePosts');

except the closing PHP tag at the end of the file.
