I've tried this on several themes but can conclude that the plugin "Duplicate Post Eraser" will insert an invisible snippet into your theme. In the advanced newspaper theme from Gabfire, its inserted right below the featured posts. (see the attachments with the red arrow). Moreover, this also happens on self-made themes.
When disabling the plugin, the code disappears.
However I wasn't able to find anything in the code of the plugin, so I have no idea where it comes from.
Also check the other attachments. Can someone else confirm this? Just install it right from the WordPress.org database and check your blog's source code.
The previous version was known as "duplicate post eraZer" (not with an "s")
