what purpose do backlinks serve

They increase your rankings that means the better rankings you get the closer is your chance to get on first page with your keywords on google or other search engines.

what purpose do backlinks serve

say you are going to build a mini site of 15 pages...

what keyword phrases are you going after? say 15 keywords that are searched for....use freewordtracker

now how many backlinks can you make to your phrases? say 100 to each keyword

if 100 is what you can do, do not go after keywords that have more than 80 backlinks

check and see who is ranking for your keyword, see how many links are pointing to the sites in the top 10. example "famous people with acne"
the first 4 sites for this phrase has no links pointing to the pages that show up for this keyword...according to free wordtracker this phrase gets searched for 25 times a day...

use basic seo and use hubpages, squidoo and wetpaint for a little extra kick pointing to your mini site

then you will rank for that keyword in the search engines

OR use web 2.0 sites such as blogger and squidoo type sites as single page site for each one of your keywords for your websites, are you selling clickbank stuff or are you selling adsense or cj stufff? do not buy any domains....

these types of sites will most likey out rank any new domain...using same backlink plan as stated in the quotes

i should make this wso for all the newbes and charge $7

thanks button is on the top right hand side of post....
