Linking to Web 2.0 Sites vs Money Sites

Hi

I've noticed that a lot of people suggest linking high quality web 2.0 profiles to your money site.

For the rest of the secondary quality links (such as xrumer, scrapebox stuff), they use it to link to their web 2.0 properties instead of their money site in order to protect it.

Is it advisable to blast these secondary links to both the money sites and web.20 sites?

The reason I'm asking is, it's not practical to build thousands of web.20 sites for the first tier linking, and I've seen competitors backlinks numbering in the thousands.

So if we only have a handful of web2.0 sites for first tier, and the thousands of secondary blast is only reserved for the first tier, how can we compete in strength with our competitors?

Would appreciate some clarification.

I've seen people do this for years off and on and I highly recommend working for promoting your money site and using other web 2.0 techniques to drive your site.

I personally tell my clients to use their web 2.0 accounts for specific marketing techniques and then to think of them aa your own personal tabloid magazine/biography outlet, where you let people know about you and what you are doing within the company, mentioning it and plugging it...not actually promoting from your personal profile. Leave the promotional stuff to be pushed through your company profile.

As far as linking, it is up in the air due to personal technique and motivation behind what you do and how you do it.

Do I think that it out produces the standard money site link connections? Absolutely not.

Just my opinion and take on the topic though, as I hear a few others have had success with the method. I don't support it with my clients due to the research showing it isn't effective for them, nor my own practices.

I recommend that you use automated tools to send links to 8 - 12 high quality slave sites which will link to the money site. These can be web 2.0, but I normally mix in some slave domains that I own (hosted separately from the money site of course). These sites should have unique content, at least 4 articles each.

To reinforce these slave sites, you need 24 - 36 sites to make up your back-line. Because of the number, these will be much lower quality, with medium grade content and fewer backlinks. The purpose of this structure is to provide context and relevance to the first line of slave sites, thus giving them more clout to send to the money site.

It's best to start from the bottom and work your way up. It makes sense for older sites to link to newer sites. It's also much better if these sites have some link-power before a link is added to the money site.

Spread out the adding of links and content over a number of months. Imagine the pages you are making are indistinguishable from normal websites which Google has no reason not to trust.

When the time is right, insert linear links (2 second line link to 1 first line link to money site). Do not interlink the network yet - do this slowly over a longer timespan, and don't interlink every site. Be very conservative. Keep building links to the whole network.

Repeat this process 2 or 3 times. It's advisable to start all the networks at (roughly) the same time, but keep them separate for a considerable period of time. Very late in the process, you can think about interlinking all the networks in an undetectable pattern.

In the background to all this, you will have been manually building high quality backlinks direct to your money site. This is safe to do - the worst that can happen is the sandbox, which means you'll be out of the serps for a maximum of 3 months. Usually it lasts for a much shorter time.

What I have just talked about is a huge amount of time and investment. I use bought content and automated tools to make everything easier.

For lower competition keywords, you don't need to work this hard.

thank u micallef, very detailed strategy, i'll apply this to my new site definitely. still left me some questions: 1 how do u define low, medium, high competition keywords? 2 before slave sites grown up and link to money site, is it necessary to add other types(blog comments, exchange, profiles) backlinks to money site?
