should i no follow my affiliate links or does anyone think it may be advantageous to let google see them as outbound links to coincide with backlinks?

You should add the no-follow tag to any links that are on sites/pages you don't want to leak any PR and link juice.

you mean as in i could be taking pr from these sites and it could be detrimental? or do u mean no follow links to certain bad neighbourhood websites?

for example a link to a major company like play.com or amazon would be follow because they are reputable?

Nofollow your affiliate links - then separately (if you want) link out to an authority site with a do-follow link.

Any links you make do-follow leaks your PR and authority.

I always make my outbound links no-follow and the results are much better. My sites build PR and authority in Google a hell of a lot faster.
