Why pinging is a waste of time

Now, I've seen a lot of people place so much emphasis on PINGING backlinks in order to get them indexed on time. Now to be fair, I actually jumped on the bandwagon initially, and tried EVERY pinging technique you could possibly think of, without any of them making much of a difference. Then as I became more experienced in SEO, I began to realize that the important thing isn't pinging links, but BUILDING THEM!.....Yes. The time you spend pinging links could be better spent building new ones.
And moreover, MAJORITY of the links that do not show up on Yahoo site explorer STILL GET NOTICED by the search engines, and are still credited to your website. I have noticed this from experience.
So fellas, I encourage you all to focus on building quality links, and leave the rest of the work to the search engines to figure out. Hope this helps?

That seems logical to me.

Setting hundreds of backlinks the same time, isn't the problem.

But pinging that big bunch of links in one time, says to aunt G:

"Hello, I am BH backlinks building! Please label me for that"
(because it doesn't seem to come the 'natural' way)

Yes, its true. Natural indexing is more powerful than pinging the links and forcing the search engines to index it.

just did my xrumer profiles, going to try ping them using pingdevice, will report back..

about 6,000 profiles links.

Gotta disagree with most of you guys. I get 1000 profile links a day via drip feed and Google never finds these naturally. (Unless you just so happen to be a new user on the front page when G hits it)

I started building RSS feeds of these links and then pinging the RSS links. I can now tell that G finds the links in 1-5 minutes after pinging where before it would almost never get them.

If you are taking the time or money to buy links, make them count!

(I'm beta testing a site now where you just paste in your links and it builds the RSS links, pings them, then tells you when Google sees them. It'll prob go live this week as a free service for us black hatters.)

As far as Google is concerned pinging is a complete waste of time. If you read up on Google Caffeine you would understand. I don't care if your links get indexed 1 sec after you ping them, its a coincidence.

I'm in the process of testing out Bing and even Yahoo right now because there is not much reliable documentation that I can easily find on them but Google is DEFINITELY a wasted effort.

Say what? I "force" all my links to get found by google. Result = Faster rankings. Dont say something is "true" or "not true", unless you're a google engineer who knows the algorithm you cant really know. The only "truth" here is nobody really knows the definite answer on whether pinging or not pinging helps but if it takes you an extra 3 seconds to ping your links then why not? Sandbox? De-index? Not from pinging, in my experience.

I think the point was that the majority of profile links don't get indexed AT ALL unless you in some way purposely promote them to be.

Having them indexed 1 second (or however long it takes) after you ping them is incidental.
