Smoking kills, 2 days back I had a severe cough due to it, My lungs are whole burnt, I wanna live more, What do you think? is quitting smoking good ? are u a smoker ?

I smoke from 2 years... and think smoking is good... when u dont have any job and u are at home or out with friends smoking is good for 5 mins.

If you don't quit at least switch to natural tobacco. It may not be as
satisfying but it does a whole lot less damage to your lungs.

I don't smoke but I have family members that do and based on their experience
natural tobacco is much less taxing on their system.

After watching two grandparents die from lung cancer, I quit smoking after 8 years. Best decision I've ever made. My energy levels and endurance went through the roof.

I think that most smokers would agree that smoking is detrimental to your health. It deteriorates your lungs, causes various forms of cancer, pollutes the air of those around you, is the leading cause of COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), diminishes lung capacity, leads to emphysema, causes chronic bronchitis, is a predominant factor in heart and stroke patients, etc.

Despite all the negative aspects of cigarette smoking, we continue to ingest these harmful toxins. Our body and mind may want to give up the habit but our brain is addicted to the drug known as nicotine. When you try to quit, the neurotransmitters in the brain begin to short-circuit. This causes agitation, aggression, mood swings, etc. This is why many folks who attempt to quit cold turkey eventually give in to their cravings.

If you are serious about quitting, I would suggest a drug called Cha*nt*ix. This particular smoking cessation medication tricks the neurotransmitters in the brain into believing that they are being given nicotine when they actually aren't. The drug uses a "step down" method, which means that you can still smoke while taking the medication but you will naturally lose desire over time.

All cigarettes, regardless of whether or not they are natural or contain a lowered amount of nicotine, produces carbon monoxide. When you take a drag off of a cigarette, you pull the smoke into your lungs which results in an elevated heart rate, increased blood pressure, dilated blood vessels, etc. When this occurs, the heart must work twice as hard to pump oxygen to the brain.

I used Chantix and I have not smoked in 6 Months.

Congratulations, Conjamuk. I wish I could share your desire and motivation to kick the nasty habit!

Get Chantix it works there are some side effects but its worth it.

I am a nurse so I am pretty familiar with the drug. However, I just lack the desire and motivation to try and quit smoking at this point and time in my life. As a person who works in health care and sees the first hand effects of nicotine addiction, you would think I could conjure up the inner strength to kick the habit.

People who also smoke weed habitually also inhale a lot of carbon monoxide but you won't find many studies linking it to lung cancer.

The best option is certainly to quit smoking but smoking these additional 600 additives certainly is worse than natural tobacco.

I'm not encouraging you switch though. Its best to just stop because both options are harmful.

You are correct, however, habitual marijuana smokers generally do not smoke in excess of 20 joints a day, whereas most cigarette smokers ingest at least a pack of cigarettes a day. The latest medical study (American Thoracic Society, 2006) related to marijuana and cigarette smoke substantiates your claim but also points out that this claim is based on the evidentiary contention that marijuana, even in cases of heavy use, does not compare with that of cigarette smoking.

On an interesting side note, marijuana smokers do not experience emphysema related effects from smoking pot because the substance does not obstruct the small airway. The same cannot be said for cigarettes.

Smoked for 30 years. Best thing I ever did is quit. Been 5 years this month and I still thank myself for it. I did it cold turkey, but do it any way that you can...it's worth it!

You already accomplished a big step. You have accepted that you are addicted and that you can't just quit when you want to. But, that you will need a sustained effort.

Now think about the all the good thoughts that will flow through you mind when you quit smoking and know you are not unnecessarily injuring your body.

Thinking? it frreeaking kills you!

if that is not a good motivator to quit, well....

ohh i downloaded diary of a drug addict (haven't seen it yet), it's about a report that starts taking heroin just to see if he then can go "cold turkey" and everything is documented...

R!

Well, my friends use chantix, I dont like it..

I smoke but I was thinking of stopping also. I have been recommended by a few mates to get the Allen Carr stop smoking book which made a few of my friends [40 a day], smoking two before they got out of bed stop without gum, patches or any other means. I'm beginning to realize that smoking is just an illusion, and that everytime I take one drag i'm depriving every cell in my body of oxygen. But I just had two cigs before typing this so |: :|

I quit 2.5 years ago since we decided to have another baby.
I did it cold turkey and the only side effect is I was a major asshole for 2 weeks.
St. Johns wart seemed to take the edge off.

My energy level skyrocketed too, but I also put some weight on.
Try to get into a exercise routine early to keep the pounds off.

I never really was a smoker just a toker.

Im both smoker and a toker, gotta knock both of them on the head someday LOL

I do love smokin the chronic especially with what us guys do, it makes my brain all funky and creative.
