Iam trying to rank better for a competitive keyword with 33.000 exact searches currently I am on 5th page. So far I did article submission blogs and xrumer profile blasts. Thinking about getting a linkwheel but not sure if they are safe or not. I read about close and open linkweels not sure which is better, also how big should they be?

Please advise what?s the best strategy for linkwheel and if they are still effective.

Or maybe I would be better getting 5 2.0 sites putting article on them linking them to my site and spamming them with scrapebox and profile blasts?

Give you advice ! For me in a ver competitive market link wheel does not work anymore! What you have to do to push you to the first place on google is link push! You will need a lot of time effort (nothing for lazy people ), but the success is guaranted as I did with a lot of keywords and if you did the work you can use your monster for a lot of your sites hosted on different ips.
First you have to create first level web 2.0 sites (squidoo, wp etc.)! I have about 150 but for the start 50 are fine! After that you publish an unique article (on-page keyword 3-5%) on your web 2.0 site with 2 links to your money site and spinn this 100 times 60% unique content and publish this spinned article in article directories (10 spinned articles every week) and link to your web 2.0 site (also do some forum-links and blog-commenting with xrumer)! When you finished with all of your web 2.0 sites and the spinned articles you can start from the beginning using the same sites with another keyword for your money site or even better another money site! Do not forget to use private proxies !
So if you work hard and will follow my advice you will rank out all of your competitors and even more you will create monster web 2.0 (for example my squidoo and a lot of other web 2.0 sites have pr5 and 4).

Hi,
I was also having same problem. I made a open link wheel but it did not effect much, so I used another trick-link push. It was really very very effective. Either their was a great keyword competition, it worked and gave me results.

this is exactly what i do and it works. you can have some of the web20 sites RANDOMLY link to each other but do not do it in a traditional "wheel" fashion, make it more like a "net". tools like SENuke make it incredibly easy to do this using the randurl feature

LinkWheels are Fine but remember

random links= real random people as far as G is concerned

Would a random person link blog 1 and blog 2 together? No so dont do it either.
