Turn $10 into $200 in one hour

@ MarkUSA - the whole idea of this method is that it is something different. There are literally hundreds of people selling niche sites, so therefore its harder to be profitable.

Making a site that is a little different allows you to command a premium at the marketplace.

Using niche sites, you can still follow the same formula, especially with the upsell, I think you'll just find profits will be about half that you would make with a service selling site :)

Yep, you're right, I see it on that major site selling site all the time, even with the changes they've made. People want something different. And, if you have some reputation and selling history over there, people are a lot more apt to buy from you, no matter what you're selling.

I have yet to try this method per se, but I have unloaded several "niche sites" over there, which, while not "hopeless" weren't appealing to me anymore.

Everyone prefers there to be revenue attached to them, of course, but even without revenue, you can find a decent buyer if you have traffic, PR, age, or can really play up the potential.

I've not NOT sold any site I've listed, except for the first few when I was a noob. And those eventually sold through deals brokered off of the network after the auctions ended, before they were so strict about that.

how can you sell website with no traffic for that amount of money?

What are you talking about?

Have you actually read anything I have written in this thread?

"I realise not all of you will have the resources I mentioned" - From my OP

You clearly haven't understood the point.

I'd also hazard guess that most BHW members have some sort of "program" lying around, despite the fact that it isn't the point.

And dude, I literally couldn't care less about "thanks" - you won't see me begging for it.
Good, cos with that attitude, you ain't getting shit.

You act like noobs would just happen to have some program laying on their computer to sell.

Where the hell would they get it from genius?

Huge thanks for sharing your strategy meathead. It just shows how many approaches there are to creating sites that people want to buy.

True - but if you want a quick turnaround and don't have the skills to do the k/w research and articles then it still works. It was merely an example regarding upsell rather than getting the best price for the site itself.

Ahh, I see, it's all about the upsell. Hey, I've a quick question...and I understand it's about the upsell, but you mentioned "if you don't have free software then use an SEO book or similiar"...

I must've missed something. Software that does what? And you mean just downloading any old open source software and using that? Or your own personal software?

Good thread anyway, tyvm

Literally anything you can use to offer a service. It really doesn't matter. Open source/free is ideal.

I also tend to aim for something IM'ers would buy/use. Search engine submissions, directory submissions, traffic, facebook fans, twitter followers etc...

Something like a free directory submitter would be ideal. Offer the service for $10, should be easy to get clients. When you sell the site, either give the buyer the software or give them the link to it.

Here's a better idea:

Create some cool software.

Make a load of sites that resell this software as a service (or sell the software itself). Sell these sites and give buyers a single use license for the software so they can resell the service.

Sell these sites from a website. Something like softwarewebsites.com. Make sure people can come to the site and order a reseller website nice and cheap (say $97). Also sell the sites on DP and Flippa (make sure you mention your site so hopefully some people will go to your site).

Once you've sold loads of the sites, sell the whole business on Flippa. They will be buying the website shop and full source code of the software. You'll be able to show revenue from all the sites you've sold.

This is a very easy way to build a five figure business within a few months. Hope that makes sense - you can add your own twist.

Awesome Idea, I might give this a go.

Hi There meathead1234, sorry to ask
what is the fullname of DP market
I'm noob

This would be great reoccurring income.

say you quick sold them for 20 bucks and sold 10 of them a month.

You set up a reseller account and sell them hosting for 5 bucks a month.

every month you are getting $400 dollars from the sale of the sites, but a reoccurring 50 bucks a month, in 4 months your making $600 a month and it goes up and up from there.

Its a solid business plan! especially if you outsourced the making of the site for the 20 bucks breaking even on every site and just focus on the hosting, you could easily sell up to 50 or even 100 sites a month. Thats a goooood income.

Hi guys,

So last night I was pretty bored, had just sold quite a big site so thought I'd prove a point regarding DP being profitable for selling sites if you know what you're doing.

Most people will say "oh Dp is shit" etc and for practically everything they would be right. Buying and selling sites, however, is both quick and inexpensive. I have never bought a site on Flippa, I always buy from DP.

Okay so here's what I did:

Bought a .com domain (don't buy anything else) relating to my niche

Built a site really quickly selling a service relating to a tool you may have (preferably free). Nothing fancy, just with a contact us, testimonials, FAQ and sales page with built in cart (I used e-junkie). So if you have a tool that does article submissions, then offer that on the site as a service.

Put an auction up on DP - I wrote a nice pitch about how important *insert niche software* is and how easy it is to sell as a service blah blah, how much money they can make blah blah. I put NO RESERVE in the title as that always gets the bidding going.

Okay, so how did I make $200:

Listed site for $1 start, $100 BIN and mentioned if they hit the BIN price I would do some blog commenting (I have scrapebox). Normally, the site would sell for about $20 on DP but because I offered an incentive to hit the BIN people are far more likely to bid.

How long did it take to sell? 5 PM's and 4 seperate bidders later, it sold for the BIN of $100.

Okay, so how did you make another $100?

I sold them hosting :) Most people are too lazy to move site to a new host, so I referred them to my own hosting company (if you don't have reseller hosting, send them to a hosting affiliate (such as Hostgator) for a quick and easy $100.

Simple as that. Site took me 30 mins to build, 10 minutes to list site and answer PM's and 20 minutes to setup and run scrapebox.

I understand that a lot of you won't have all of the resources I mentioned, so twist it a bit. If you can't build sites yourself (I AM RUBBISH!) then outsource it for like $20.

If you don't have scrapebox, offer them some free ebooks on SEO and marketing as an incentive.

If you don't have some free software that you could sell as a service. This method isn't for you :P

The moral of the story is that it is all about the upsell. Don't just think of a sale as just the cost of the site itself, sell them other services, sell them hosting, sell them anything - you never know, sometimes you get a client for life.

So yeah, don't dismiss marketplaces just because the inital sale isn't as high as elsewhere - if you can upsell other services, you'll make just as much.

Please don't PM me asking for my niche or anything like that because I won't tell you. This isn't a blueprint to copy, more inspiration to get you started and buck the trend of selling sites for 15 bucks.

Good luck!

The website creation took less than an hour?

The website creation took less than an hour?

Doesn't take long if you have a site to "copy". Once you've made it once you can copy and paste most of the code and just change the domain :)

Admittedly, the first site might take more than an hour, but on average it's way less than that as you can use 95% of the previous site.

Can you use the same method repeatedly for any time and the same marketplace (DP)?

Keep doing it until it stops working. Once you've sold 10+ non-unique sites your sales might slow down, but the same strategy will work over and over again with different sites.

Great Idea, Thank! Even better, get a SEO team on odesk and offer them 40 hours or so free.
