i started the signup for hosting and at the end you have to enter your credit card and they charge $1.95 for credit card check and they will give you instore credit so it don't get refunded.
I don't like giving my credit card as i then have no control and will find $119 taken in a years time so it is not free if you don't watch it. i presume the domain is the same and after a year it is $25 to renew

You can transfer the domain after 1 year, you can delete the credit card information, you can set to not auto-renew the 1.95$ you ca use the 1.95$ buy other things. The 1.95$ is used to stop the abuses...

Its really a great deal. Sure they charge your card $1.95. But so what you will pay a lot more than that with almost any other host. You get 12 free months of hosting and if your cheap like me and others you will just move to a new host after the 12 months is over. I rather enjoy 12 of free hosting instead of paying $120ish a year for hostgator. I still have both and a few other hosts.

I tried it up and it didn't work for me. Like jakeys I got a response - we were unsuccessful in charging your card and asked for a photocopy of the front and the back of the card. As I'm using VCC-s for most of my payments, it's a dead end.
It is overpriced at regular prices, but you do get both free, once you enter copupon codes.
What seemed really annoying was that they do not register the domain as you enter it, but take their leisurely time. As does the customer service - 6-12 hours per event in both of my cases.
