I'm at my wits end. I can't figure it out because I don't think I have the right tools for the job!
Well here it is; this guy I know has this one full proof blackhat technique to get sites indexed and rank within a matter of days! He expects me to share all my knowledge on PHP, and anything else he needs and what little SEO I know but he doesn't ever share this one trick.
He's a great guy but I don't like how he gets so smug about it.
I've found that his method can get a site ranked but it doesn't necessarily bring in any relevant traffic.
So here it is, his website that he SEO'd:
**w.hairremovalglendale.*** Just remove the stars.
He got it up there in a matter of weeks with only 4 backlinks from what I can tell. He always boast that what he does is invisible and I wouldn't e er be able to see what he's doing. If anyone can help me, I'd be very appreciative. I'd even build you out a very simple php template for your help! It's not much, but if you help me find it out, and I can replicate the results, I can see a favor for a favor deal happening here.

Is it a .com / .net / . org ?

Be a bit more specific if you want to know how the site is doing it.

google "hair removal glendale" and he is on the second page. i hardly think that is good considering it's his domain name

that's a low competition term with only 36 exact searches a month with a EMD.

you could do the same by trying to rank for used midget thongs glendale.com

google ranking is keyword specific. obviously one of his main keywords is hair removal with which he does not even rank in top 200. unless i am missing something the site does not have much to talk about.

It's a *c-o-m*, the keyword he ranks for is "hair removal Glendale" and over here in Glendale he's always on the first page in the #4 spot.

Do a search here, you can find plenty of great threads on getting your site indexed very fast. :) HTH

They are quite easy methods so don't fall for that friend's tricks. If you can wait for a little more time, I will be able to give you the links and also any software that you can find free to do the job. :)

I have a great liking for PHP because my son is also an expert in it. The way he creates programs to help me when I ask for his help simply amazes me. I am/was a programmer/analyst myself in client-server applications and also did advanced autolisp programming while working as AutoCAD expert in the late 1980s early 1990s (when there were very few autocad experts in my country). Many wanted to get my all my autolisp/autocad techniques 'free', but when I said it's quite advance knowledge and they first need to learn basic autocad before learning my advanced techniques, they usually began badmouthing me and the thin friendship was usually lost for ever. So this is normal human behavior... I would advice you not to give your knowledge free to someone who does not want to share his own. :)

HTH :)

P.S.:
Do you see his address and telephone number at the top of his index page? It is possible that Google is applying some secret parameter/s associating the actual place (Glendale) with his specific address information and giving some extra love...hence it causes his site to jump up places when your IP address matches that specific information ... just a guess but it is a possibility. You can try doing that for your own site... use your address, phone#, etc., and also get in Google Maps if possible. I will check his site thoroughly when I get some free time and find out what extra things he is doing, e.g., press releases, etc.

The one thing that I love about SEO is that you really can't hide anything from the world if you want the world to find you.

Just did a reverse search on the site and found 2 backlinks for the site using yahoo site explorer. Doesn't seem like much but those are probably the buffer sites they use to spam the main site.

Dug into the two links and found 643 backlinks from site one and 182 from site two which are mostly web directory backlinks, a few blog comments, and a well placed mini net.

You can achieve the same by:

Indexing the site fast:

Creating 20 high profile backlinks and rolling the urls of them into one feed using links2rss.

submit that feed through a high Rss aggregator like Scrapebox, SENuke, etc

Social bookmarking the url and the feed.

rolling the urls into a feed from the bookmarks and submitting that feed to the rss aggregator.

Creating a Webmasters account and submitting sitemap.

Pinging all the feeds and the main url.

======================================

  • Using a good Directory submitter or do the submissions by hand....
  • Create a mini net using Web 2.0 sites and run the above on those then drop the links back to the buffer sites and in random order to each other. Then point the buffer sites back to the main site.
  • Write a good keyword rich article and spin that puppy a few times using a good article spinner like "the best spinner" and submit that to the top article directories and point those to the main site.
  • Scrape up some good do follow blogs, with high pr and blast out a good 1k blast to the buffer site
  • hand submit a few high pr, do follow blog comment backlinks to the main site
That's the best I can see that this person is doing.

WOW thank you incredibly. I will look take your advise simpleonlinetest. Get scrapebox and set up buffer sites. . . You guys are awesome!

It's a *c-o-m*, the keyword he ranks for is "hair removal Glendale" and over here in Glendale he's always on the first page in the #4 spot.

I think this is what the OP wants to understand more>>> why does that person's site appears at #4 only in Glandale (may be the OP implies that otherwise that site isn't even within top 10 everywhere else.)

So I looked especially for the place part -- focused completely on why it's Glandale specifically that the site jumps up so high, and came to the conclusion in my earlier post.
:)

OP has asked a very clever 'question' here! ;)

So is Google getting city-specific too? Especially for a very important country like the USA... hmm...:hmmmm:
