Getting F***Ked by Knownhost. Need new VPS

Well It seems Knownhost is f*cking my memory up. It was at 100% and they tell me it is "this sites" database.. So I deleted thesite because it was just taking up space.. Well the took it down to 45%, Well 20 minutes later it is back up to 100%.. They say "Well now it is this site" So I deleted it.. that took it all the way down to 32%.. Now 15 minutes later it is back up to 100% after they tell me they optimized my apache and mysql..

So pretty much I have come to the thinking, they are doing this so I have to upgrade, which is retarded because I only have 20 sites on there. All which are small sites.

So after that long ass story I just bored you with. can someone recommend me a VPS host with good rep. Right now, here is my spec and what I pay.

Ram - 512MB
Space - 30GB
Bandwidth - 750GB
Cpanel - Free with promotion

Price $33 a month

If it is the DB. What is the MYSQL usage running at? If it was just the DB, the mysql process should have fairly large CPU and Memory usage. And inside the daily process log, your sites should have huge numbers for Average Mysql Processes (Over 0.5).

That is all greek to me. I dont know shizz about all that backend stuff. I just throw my sites on there and let them ride. I dont even have any paying clients. Its just my stuff

Did you try restarting your server?

I use knownhost, had a server that had a Server Load of like 30 (8 CPUs), sites running slow, I restarted, and for the past day the Server Load average has been 0.22.

Also, login to your whm, click on 'Server Status', then 'MySQL Daily Process Log' and see what is using all of your resources.

Oh, forgot, I deleted a few cron jobs that were running but not actually used or needed, that may have helped the most.

Just to let yall know, i am not using this for SB or anything BH, it is all for my sites.

not trying to hijack the thread but another hoster: santrex.net is telling me the same crap. i only have some simple html and php site and they say that i'm using too much cpu and that i should upgrade.
these kinds of sc...bags should stop selling hosting.
please do not using thses hosters.

hmm I dont know ive had great experiences with knownhost. As for a vps.. theres gonna be peak times since your sharing the server. Since knownhost is very popular...theres a lot of big clients using these vps servers I would assume. I guess you could say its happy your hosting is slow and they havent cut you off for using over 15 percent of the cpu or whatever.

Also... did you pick the datacenter in texas or the other one? the texas is a lot faster I believe

On the one I have, it highlights any one process or whatever when it is using more than 10% of the CPU, red when using more than 20%.

You have 3 over 10%, so maybe not so good.

My coder said something about some scripts or tasks or loops or something that will not end, and one way to end them is to restart the server whenever it starts slowing down(I don't know the technical terms, not a coder or server expert).

Something to try.

Up till 3-4 weeks ago, I have loved knownhost. Been with them for 2 years and I am using the datacenter in TX.

They said I need to optimize my database, but I have no clue what the hell that means...lol

If you want to go unmanaged/basic managed, burst.net is cheap. don't have personal experience with them, but heard good thing on other forums, atleast since their DC upgrade few years back.

That what they'd tell me too.

I remember practically begging them to restart the server when it would run slow before I got so I wasn't afraid to try it myself.

My problem was/is with the db and cpu usage, not memory, so maybe you have a different issue.

If you want to restart and haven't before, login to whm, click on ' System Reboot', then 'Graceful Server Reboot'.

I have done several reboots and restarts.. It will drop to 43% and then shoot right back up within 15 mins

I've been with http://www.futurehosting.com/ forever and they're the bollocks. I can see that they no longer offer any 512mb plans, but their 786mb is $35 (for cPanel Managed).

I can also recommend, WiredTree and Beyond Hosting, but they're looking too expensive to be honest, although only as Future Hosting's prices have come down as they were all once similarly priced.

For sheer value Burst.net and ThrustVPS.com are near unbeatable.
