I created 40 links to one of my websites via profiles in forums. These forums have a domain PR of at least 6 and all of the links in the profiles are do follow. Some are with anchor text while some are just links populated into the website field.

After about a week, I haven't seen any jump in my ranks. Is it because I didn't ping them?

Very nice question....i am interested in finding out.

Thanks in advance

Great test... You should make an RSS feed of the links and ping it. Then wait a couple of days and post a followup.

It'd also help to know how competitive the keyword is, how new the site is, links the site has now and how it ranks, etc.

40 links seem not to be much. And also within 1 week just about 20% of your back links will get indexed. That will be about 8 back links which doesn't give any weight at all. Try pinging your profiles.

The site is one month old with a very low competition keyword with almost no links other than those for quick indexing (statistics websites).

Do not forgot to build backlink to your profile link. Signature can handle many links, so put a link to your main website and one or two link to other profile (better if they are related to another niche, but not really important, it's just to stay "under cover").

40 links is not enough, yes it depends about your target site, but you will see that all the profile link you builded would not be indexed. Event if you make backlink to them. It's due to the fact that some forum are already uber spammed and got thousand of thousand of profile url with the same the same content...

Another good thing to do is to daily connect to the forum and stay connected some hours (keep alive), you probably noticed that when you log to a forum or something else, your profile appeare in the first page.

Profile link are good because you can quickly make many backlinks with different host and class C ip, but, they will never got a big PR and there lifetime are not very long.

That's all I know about profile link and that's my first post to black world.

For profile backlinks, you need thousands in order to see the result. It also takes time: 2-4 weeks.

Not true. You can still get good results but depends a lot on your SEO competition and also if you get them indexed.

Just about 10% of profiles get indexed without any help. You should do an RSS feed and send it to RSS directories.

Anyway , just buy Xrumer. :D

What are theses RSS directories ?

with only 40 links you cannot see a change in one week. And yes, pinging the link is very much important.

I have profiles in 20 different forums. How do I Rss them?

Use rss.icerocket . com to build your rss feed.

Create a channel then add your profile URLs into the channel.

That created channel, submit it to rss aggregation sites, you manually submit or use RSS Submit or RSS bot.

Social Bookmark that RSS Feed to jumptags or any social bookmarking of your choice. Bookmark at least 10

Ping that RSS feed with pingler or pingomatic

You can also feed that RSS feed into feed burner and repeat the steps above.

Add more profiles...

Sometimes if the forum profiles takes time to index, try to interact with the forum itself. Join some discussions and if allowed put a signature forum.

First create your rss xml file with links2rss.com and submit it to icerocket. Or just ping the hell out of the list.

or u can use scrapebox to create rss xml so that u don't have to rely on peter drew's html2rss.com or links2rss.com....

Ok, I have tried adding adding all the links to RSS, submitting all the RSS and pinging them. Let's see how it works then.

40 isn't that much so you can even social bookmark them to get them indexed asap, if you can, that is

They do work , but you need to fill them out properly. If you fill out the hobbies and about you with keywords that helps the link bring you better juice.

That's exactly what I did. Just waiting for the results. Pinging once a day.
