Protecting our SEO work- 301 redirect

I have some questions about a 301 redirect and protecting all the work that I am doing for offline seo clients. I have contracts, but it still seems tough to get all of them to pay all the time.


Basically what I want to do is protect all the work that I am doing for them building thousands of links and then just leaving me if they decided they no longer need my services.

What can I do to protect myself by using a 301 redirect. I don't mind buying a new domain for each client, but need to know if I funnel all the links through that one domain that all the juice will be passed through and that I can change the redirect if the client stops paying.


Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just do 301 redirects Using Subdomains! But about the 20% of link juice usually fades away by doing the redirect thing

I don't mind if 20% fades away as I can just do more links, but I have no idea how to set up sub domains. I would prefer to just buy a new domain for each new client I get and then run the links through that. Will that work ok for what I am doing?

OK, I will try to do some testing over the next couple weeks and see how it goes. I assume it would be a benefit to use a domain with some keywords in it.


Also can the 301 redirect be changed if they stop paying. I mean taking it down and just letting the site I own actually rank instead of the clients website?

no need to be keyword specific, but yes- you will be gaining those rankings instead. Have done this and can confirm that it works

You buy a domain then do a 301 redirect with your new domain to the clients domain, you then build links to your new domain so that if the client ever leaves you can just unredirect it thus removing all the links you built for them.

Highly unlikely they will know what you are doing if they have hired you to do there SEO I would think they are pretty clueless, also so what if you are doing it like that? It an insurance policy for non payers and to make sure they continue with your services.

The clients, with a 301 redirect you are telling the serps that the domain has moved permenantly to this new location.

OK, great to hear. Clients will never know and if they stop paying or using your service then you just take down the 301 and use it for someone else in the future.

I wonder how much more links you have to build?
