Do my idea works ?

I am from india... Now internet in india is growing like crazy...now i see lots of companies have websites... i am a web designer and developer so like to start a small web designing company first targeting my own city..

i have planned to build a easy to use CMS ( my own ) exclusive for doctors and going to contact each and every doctor in my city through business card, brouchers..

now a days i seeing lots of doctors having websites... so i think it will work... but before i start i like to get your advice since i am going to spent time in developing CMS and money to advertise...

please give me ur advice..

the main reason for such question is i am going to spend huge time in building up a CMS through which peoples can easily manage their complete website... it takes some time to build a CMS...

why dont use wordpress?
Its highly developed and works like a charm.
Doctors have propably never heard of it, so they wont think its some cheap free stuff.
Just make your own wordpress - setup including nice themes and some plugin, and they will love it

wordpress is a biggest application with lots of options, so doctors feel some difficulty and there are some advanced option which dont won't even heard of...

i am going to provide a easy to use CMS as easy as using mobile... if they feel very easy to manage then they will recommend my service to others...

why dont you write a little programm that posts to wordpress for them (XML or RSS based?)
You only have to include the options you want in it.
Or there might be a way to put a second layer over the wp-admin area...

If a doctor does not setup a wordpress site for having no time, having no knowledge, etc, he wouldnt do either with your script, although it might be much easier. Why not offering WP basing websites for doctors as a service? Write to some doctors a snail-mail letter first to check if you service is interesting.
This concept can be scaled up for other niches as soon as you understand the specific requirements for each niche.

I would recommend that you test the waters first. Building a WHOLE CMS (backend, frontend, graphics) from scratch is a serious time/resource/money waster. If you're doing all that based on nothing solid, I wouldn't go for it.

Sure, everything worthwhile involves a risk but before you dive into the amount of work, do some more research:

- See current indian doctor sites (content, CMS used)

- Get to know whether they'd like to update it themselves or have someone update it.

If you still need to dive in without enough research, at least grab a template from templatemonster.com or something and work with it. Don't start up with building a CMS from scratch.

Just my two cents.

i am a information technology student,, in my class nobody knows what is wordpress other than me... then think how doctors will be...

thanks for the nice info,,, there is a another case where doctors don't have a internet connection, so they don't care of my CMS,,, just a template works for them... let me do some research on this...

I new you were Indian before I entered the thread. Guess how? Your title says "Do my idea works ?" which is really not all that English. English goes like this: "Do you think my idea will work?". A solid 3 or 4 mistakes in 4 words, interesting. However, you just gave your method away.

i am sure that you can't be a indian, because indians won't insult others for small mistakes... i am going to market my company through "Tamil" not in english... Indian da...

Programming in itself is hard work and doesn't pay very well imo. Make it work for you, automate a way to get a medical page to 1-10 position in the SERPs then either sell the page itself or rent adspace on it to doctors. Like for example 100 pages for [oncologist in (100 indian cities)]. It's the dentist method I read about on this forum.

With a CMS you would have to offer support 24/7, fix bugs till kingdom come and whatnot.

What you could do is set up their website like area-doctor.in for example where area is the name of their town or village. Then sell the site to them - or their competition.

Hey,

Based on my experience of web design clients most of them know what the internet is and thats it! They wont be interested in making changes they'll expect you to do it - which is fine cos then you can charge them

Your CMS idea sounds great but I'd get some clients on board and then upsell it to them. That way you can develope it whilst making money.
