Is Internet Marketing A "Job"?

Me and my room mate (who's G/F is siding with him) says

"IM Is a job"

I say no it's not.. I say a job is defined by:
A boss, set hours, set pay, a set schedule, rules and restrictions.

I say Internet Marketing is a Self Employment Opportunity because whether you make money is entirely up to you. You set your own hours, your own schedule and what not.. but like everything else.. he thinks he is right about everything and is going to argue his point.

What do you think?

Hell no I make my own rules and work when I choose. I see it as a Self Employment Opportunity also. :)
 
Internet marketing is a profession or a hobby depending on what the person wishes to do.

The nature of IM is to be a business. There are a few opportunities out there where you can establish an employee to employer relationship, so those particular opportunities can be called jobs. Other than that, it is essentially a sales business and the Internet marketer is a business proprietor.

Now work is another story...
 
Just say.. fine.. its my job. I can do my job butt naked wherever I want to.. what do you wear to work?
 
lol, didn't you post before about your dumbass roommate? Smack him upside the head for starting asinine arguments next time.

"job" is such a broad definition, it all comes down to roi where investment equals money/time. When i'm working i'm actually working, not standing around the water cooler bullshitting about some stupid thing that happened over the weekend. That's the one thing that pissed me off most working a 9-5 was losing productivity like that. The normal lazy employee just wants to coast through their dumb little life and be paid too much for what they actually do, then complain about it like they are owed more than that.

America is in for a serious wake up call. I know I'm not the only one that outsources work to more competent people for cheaper rates.

Yes, but I love showing him all the replies I get on here to let him know he's not right about everything. There's a word for them but I forget what you call them.. people who believe they know everything and they honestly believe the words that are coming out of their mouth are 100% correct.
 
Well it's a business if you use outsource it and are a manager rather than a laborer, it's a self employment opportunity if you answer to no one set your own hours and income, and it's a job if it keeps you just over broke :P
 
It's deff. self employment. Now you will have to work to get paid, but it is not a job.

You can call what you do a 'Self Employment Opportunity' if you prefer, but it's still a job.

You might be the World's best cosmetic surgeon working out of your own fancy offices in Beverly Hills earning millions of dollars per year, but it's still 'a job'.

In my opinion, IM becomes a job when you aren't running your business and growing it to the point where you can leave on a vacation for a month or more, return to your business and see it still profiting...

Once you begin to feel like an entrapped slave who can never leave his IM business, then yes, you just let it become another job...You know how it is...you spend 8 hrs a day staring at your computer screen and you end the day feeling totally exhausted but you didn't make any money!...

But that's the beauty, you can quit the 'job' mentality and turn it around in 24hrs!...conventional 'jobs' nope...you're fucking stuck, literally...there is no way to just turn your job and boss into a life changing journey because you're handcuffed to that time clock or salary...

Now for me, the flip side of that is when you become so passionate about your business, that you could do it all day and all damn night, and still wake up the next morning feeling refreshed and ready to attack another day without complaints...

That feeling that you are in the 'zone' as you execute your tasks throughout that activity...whether it be creating content, or driving backlinks, whatever it is...you are just 'into it'...

That is not a job, that is a sheer passion for what you are doing! It's not a business, or a ball and chain...it's something that inspires you and gives you energy, and when you approach your business like that - I truly believe you will be at that point where you can leave for a couple months to travel the world with your children and just do minimal, maintenance check ups...

Come back home and biz is still booming...

Just my idea of what IM is for me and where I want to, and eventually will be...

Your room mate and his gf will sadly become just a faded memory and you'll be surrounded by like minded individuals who will not only agree with you, but will be there for you and help you to reach heights you never knew even existed...

The Army's used to be: "be all that you can be". Now it's "Army Strong".

lol...you're right, Clix. Maybe I was never recruited because they figured I wouldn't be able to tell the enemy was wearing a different uniform.:confused:
 
To me, internet marketing is both fun and work. I work at it and have fun while doing it. And of course it's a LOT of fun when I check my Paypal and Clickbank accounts to find a couple of thousand show up that week. :)
