Best Video Format For Landing Page ?

What is the most compatible and best video format to have on my landing page ? What is the internet standard?

I don't want my customers coming to my landing page and seeing an error because they don't have the proper codec on their computer. How do I turn my avi files into the internet standard video file?

I am using Wordpress.

I don't know what the internet standard is.
I know I have Adobe flash players and the MPEG-4 video file format is a popular format.
With the many Apple iphone users these days, make sure your video encodes with H.264 so it can play on iPhone/iPads.

Use SWF (Flash Video Format). It streams and it's smaller in size than MP4, WMF, AVI. MOV, and FLV. There are convertors that will convert any video format to SWF.

Just curious but as long as it's not adult content, why not just embed a YouTube video you upload as private? I use YouTube for video squeeze pages all the time. Just remember to check the box that eliminates similar videos.

I like your idea of embedding a YT video. I would also add some other social network icons/links if it fits in with the theme. Familiarity = Credibility

I want to try the mp4 format. But I don't see anywhere in my wordpress tools to insert a mp4 file. It has options for flash, windows media, quicktime, shockwave, and real media but not MP4. How can I do this ?
