Quick Question - Fan Updates

How does it work for sending fan updates for pages? Is it only up to 5,000 fans or something? Before I purchase this page, I just want to check this.

Groups has a limit of 5k for mailing!! and whatever you send will be sent to user's inbox and they will get a notification about it,but
Fan Pages has no limits for mailing,but your messages will not be shown in user's inbox and they will not get any notifications! if they go to inbox and then click on updates,then only they will be able to see your messages,so its not so useful,but if the page is active,then you can do status updates,which is much better then sending mail updates!!
