Quit bein cheap and buy a domain name and use your own hosting. It's less than $10 for a domain and $10 or less per month for hosting. If you plan on making any sort of money, you will need to get serious and not want to take the "free" way.

You ain't gonna get much selling a blogspot or Squidoo lens. Not nearly as much as you would selling your own domain anyway.

He is just asking for $100... if he gets about $50 per month on his site, then he can get at least 8 times more easily. Fulfill buyers' needs and you can have your way!

Ok but it takes the same amount of work to get a Squidoo lens making $50 per month as it does to make your own site earn $50 per month. The difference is you can sell your own site for 10x more than you can sell a Squidoo lens for.
You can't even sell Blogspot blogs and Squidoo lenses on Flippa I don't think because you need to verify you own the site which you clearly wouldn't if you used them. So if he can't even use the biggest online marketplace for sites, how is he going to sell it for a lot?

There are people away from Flippa or Sedo who purchase good sites privately -- on one-to-one basis withOut using such advertising / site flipping marketplaces. Suppose if he wants to sell it on DP or any other place, there would be buyers if the site is making good revenue. He can also offer to give away the gmail account with it, or do whatever, so that the buyer is happy, he is happy, and all ends well for everyone concerned! Anyway, the OP is asking for a small amount, $100 to $200, and the site can be disposed off by the buyer when the juice ends... the trade is a good value-for-money for him as well as the OP.

I know there are other places besides Flippa, but none of them are as big and will expose your site to the amount of buyers that Flippa will so naturally you have a lower chance of selling it, at least for a decent price.
DP is known to get you lower prices for your sites than Flippa will, so it wouldn't be as good as you think to sell it on DP.
And I get that you're trying to give him a "focused opinion", but any savvy buyer of a website isn't going to pay you for a free Blogspot blog or Squidoo lens - it would be stupid.
I can name 101 reasons why you shouldn't use free platforms for your money site, but I won't get into that. The main thing is that someone else is in control of your site and not you and they can shut it down at any time. A smart buyer will know this and not bother with buying it.
My main point I am trying to make is that building up a site on Squidoo or Blogger takes THE SAME AMOUNT OF WORK as building up a site on your own domain and hosting, but the payoff will be MUCH higher when you sell your own site and it will be way easier to sell too since you're not limited to where you can sell it at.
The only difference is you have to make that enormous $10 investment for a domain name and $10 a month to host the site. To me, it's a complete no-brainer to always build sites that you own and control. I personally don't care what others do though, less competition for me.

You are missing the point >>> OP needs a way to make money out of FREE website. I have a DP account and I would pay even $500 for a site that spells more opportunities for me... so it is not DP that counts but what the buyer thinks of, and is willing to pay and build up on further. I said "sites like DP", and people are willing to pay money for a revenue-generating site, not blogspot or Squidoo lens which are free sites (I mean, it's irrespective of whether the revenue making site is built on Squiddo or Blogspot, or whatever; I am interested in the money-making nature of the site). Get the difference...
It doesn't matter if it's a "no-brainier" way... it's what the OP wants specifically that matters.

I understand we have different opinions and this thread wasn't meant for us to argue about it so I will end it at that too. If he wants to spend his time building up a site on a free platform that can shut him down at any time and if some buyer out there wants to waste his money on a site on a free platform, then who am I to say anything.

You should at least invest in a good domain name. You could do the SEO part yourself if you wanted, otherwise, you should save money to outsource it. I do know of a free hosting place if youre interested though, PM me.

Well you're old enough to type and use a computer so I think you're old enough to come up with $20 to buy a domain and some hosting.
There's a lot of really young internet marketers out there that are like 13-15 and they manage just fine.
Anyway, yes you can build up a Squidoo lens and get it earning revenue. Selling it will be the hard part as I've already outlined why in this thread.

Hahaha! I completely understand why you need something free to begin with and get some money first out of nothing. You then probably will get a real website first and get moving on the fast track.
I don't know from where you are... but if it was me in your place, then I would also go the Freeway initially. Why? Because, it is extremely difficult to get some foreign exchange or a credit card to purchase a domain name and a hosting account if you are in my shoes (in my country).
It would mean arranging about $9 for a domain name and another at least $3.50 per month (that's for a 3 years' subscription) or $ 5 to $6 per month for a normal hosting account... something like this. That means getting about $60 to $70 initially and of course it would be hard to arrange for all those dollars from my country. I would opt for a freeway too and try my luck. If I was 15-16 something, then my parents too would ask me to concentrate only on studies without trying to help me out otherwise. Grumble, more grumble....
(I may be wrong about the total investment needed, but any amount over $0.00 means a lot of trouble and anxiety for me in a similar situation)!Of course there are hosting companies in my country but they wouldn't help me get decent targeted US traffic or SERPs in Google.com which matters if you are looking for making real money, unless I do the best of SEO or do some backyard tricks to get the US traffic (where most of the online revenues are generated).
So it does not cost just $10 to begin with a TLD domain, there are more costs attached, and then there is the big luck factor, and some fear of the unknown, and ... ...
In my case, I was able to sell some articles on, where else, DP and get some starting money (in Dollars), which really helped me. It was long ago but I too remember those struggle-days so vividly. I think, the first dollars I made was by writing comments on a new forum and got about $1+ for writing 10+ comments @ 10 cents each. To write those 10+ quality comments (related to the main topic -- finance -- of that new forum), I had to study some good finance-related websites for almost half the day.
So I understand the meaning and importance of the word "Free", and also how much luck I need to get those initial $$$ so that I can/may build an empire later on!

P.S.: You can always sell that good Squidoo lens to the rich "uncle" next door
. Then on, you can become a great local marketer with that experience! Anyone, your rich "uncle" for example, would be much impressed by the fact that a site IS earning "so much" money online so easily and on auto-pilot, and may arrange to put some $$$ too in your PP account. Not too many people (99.99% at least, IMHO) are savvy IMers to understand the "future-market-value"(??) of a real TLD domain and the so-called "cheapness"(???) of a Squidoo lens, you see. Furthermore:
Luck and money don't use any hard and fast rules, they are not limited in "thinking" too, and they don't differentiate between a free and a .com site when they feel like "smiling" on it -- unlike most people! lol
