Ahrefs Is Changing How Domain Rating (DR) Is Calculated

Don't you think they are already doing this?

My site's DR has dropped by like 11 points in the past few weeks : D

I just watched it gradually go down and down. I don't even know if it will drop further.

Well, they just announced it. A 50% drop in DR-imapcting sites is actually huge.

Seems to be a move in positive direction.

I have checked several units in our PBN.
Increase in DR is 7 on average.

This is closer to representing actual power they hold.

We have some DR 2.5s in the network, which is ridiculous and does not reflect reality at all.
Now being 10+.

Kudos!

Interesting timing with the December 1st rollout. If subdomains are getting their own rating now, I wonder how that plays out for sites that use subdomains for blogs or separate sections — does that split things up or just make the numbers clearer? And with half the domains no longer counting toward DR, are people expecting scores to mostly drop, or could some actually go up? Curious to see how it settles once it fully rolls out.

DR dropped 50%, but Google rankings didn't get the memo yet!
Google doesn't use DR rank your site. So, whether DR drops or increases, it won't affect your site unless Google no longer thinks your site is worth ranking.

Yeah, seconded. Ahrefs is just a third-party metric, and it only matters to people that use Ahrefs. Apart from that, it doesn't really matter

How do you translate the power they hold with their DR? Like what makes you think domain A has DR40 and as a result has the search power of 40?

How do you do that calculation? I'm just curious, not trying to poke a hole.
