Hi,

As the title says, there are so many proxy providers on the market today. I was wondering if it is easy to start a proxy business?
Please guide me on how to start a proxy business, how much investment is needed (including the minimum investment to start), and whether it's profitable.

Also, is it legal or illegal? Please don't provide any article links or anything, provide a human explanation so I can understand how it works.

i am not really sure anyone can help with this unless you make your research yourself and have some Knowledge about it and when you decide on if you really want to venture in it make sure you have a good offer to it

That that there are tonnes of providers will not obscure you if you want to shine. Every provider is unique in the services they offer plus any touch of advantage they can add. First check the most proficient provider and look at what he is offering. Emulate that then add your own touch. Here are few things to look out for: First, cost of infrastructure. Will you be buy your own dedicated servers or renting which still requires some level of technical expertise, who you partner with as your wholesale provider must be a highly reputable provider who has the capacity to handle heavy liftings of IPs, the IP quality....whether you rotating or static IPs(go for rotating IPs!). You know what, this whole thing is lenghty already. Just ask your good AI agent(preferably Claude) he will put you through all this. But here is my final note. Cost is everything when it comes to proxies and you are as safe (legally) as what your buyers are using your proxies for. Let them stay away from hacking and your are just about fine.

The tech side is easy, the hard part is sourcing good IPs and dealing with abuse reports all day. It's legal as long as your users aren't doing dumb shit, but margins are thin unless you own the network. Look at how Floppydata runs their stuff, they make it look easy but it's a grind.

you mean mostly are resellers in market?

Floppy data has own networks? i use proxyscape sometime and their proxies i don't like.
Do you have any guide for this?

a lot of the newer proxy brands are resellers, yes. owning the actual network is a completely different business with much higher costs. reselling is probably the cheaper way to test demand first, but you still need to account for support, abuse complaints and the cost of your upstream provider.

Resellers are plenty, people who actually own the platform, source the IPs themselves, and have hardware to support their business are just a few. You obviously get more quality proxies if you go with a non-reseller as they understand much more about the setup, and have full control over it. Resellers will refund you (if you're lucky!) the moment you have issues as they cannot do much about it, their business depends on some other business.
