I just noticed a site ranking on the first page of Google for high competition keyword 'ipad accessories' has description full of garbage letters. So does it mean the description metatag is totally ignored by Google?

This is in your HTML source... Google is showing what you have. Either you have a bug somewhere or something bad might have happened like a hacker got into your database or source code. It looks like someone's failed attempt at ascii art.

<meta name="description" content="___WW__WWWWW___WWW____WWWW___ ___WW__WW__WW_ WWWW___WW___W__ ___WW__WWWWW_WW__WW__WW____W_ ___WW__WW_____WWWWWW__WW___W__ ___WW__WW____WW_____WW_WWWW" />

It still has it in the title. Probably has it on the page and has good links. Description is just 1 part of the formula but I would say its important not only for search engines but also for people searching. Who's gonna click on that?

It is not my site. I was just pointing out that description tag has a very low role in ranking in Google.

How cool is that? Showing how gooble just shoves shit out without even parsing it.
