Useless? I think not, however if you wish to keep posting spam like this in every thread saying everything is uselss, you'll never accomplish anything, just a tip.

1 - It's from a pr8 home domain, ok so what? Sign up to a wordpress blog at wordpress.com that is a PR9. Sign up, get a blog, stick at a link in, is it worth anything? No not really, not unless you have some unique content to go with it an link build to it.
2 - It's nofollow.

Yeah you only get the link juice and authority

Getting Link from High authority domain passes good link juice. Thats why it should be called High authority backlink and not high page rank backlink. PR8 does n't mean the actual page rank, its domain rank. So people stop complaining about this and if you don't like to have your link, and if you find better PR8 actual rank page to place your link , better keep off this thread.

I can at least speak on the PR value being passed along. Just based on my experience, I have created a page on a sites similar to this Adobe / eHow trick and the site was PR9.
Initially the new page was gray bar, but within 5 days it was PR9. My goal was actually to create the page, rather than for help with SERP's. And, in this case, the link was in form domain.c0m/exnernalink/mydomain.c0m . In terms of link juice, etc, I think ultimately no one knows how much this helps.

However, I can say definitively that the PR gets passed from the domain to the subpage in many cases.
