How many of you used to work a 9-5 job and no longer do?

Curious to hear where every one is at! I have not had a long term 9-5 job since 2018. I have worked a few short term/part time jobs on the side for extra income, but even that was a long time ago.

Feel free to share!

I work for a Lord; my official hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, but outside of that time, I remain at the office around the clock.

I used to work 9 - 5 job before but I quit entirely when I started earning more from my online jobs. Currently I have more time for myself and my family unlike before.

I used to work at a bank, and at one point I actually started envying a homeless guy who spent his whole day drinking. Eventually I quit and started doing other things. You really have to find a balance between freedom and money.

My last time was maybe 2019 as a SEO manager. 9-5 can be great choice to have a start btw
Yeah we all begin some where! I was a custodian mopping up bathrooms, then I left and became a road side tech changing tires on busy freeways part time while growing a first business. It all took time!

8 years is a long time away from the 9'5, so Im curious what changed for you over the years. Do you feel working for yourself gave you more freedom, or did it just replace one kind of work with another?

It's been on and off. When I did - usually worked on some sort of core hours assignment (say 9:00 - 14:30 need to be reachable) and total weekly hours.

While I don't have the requirement to do the 9-5 type of work hours, as I work for myself, I try to maintain a strict schedule.

9:00 latest (ideally at around 7:00) start of the morning block.
12:00 - 13:00 mid day break (which may be a bit longer if it includes a work out)
13:00 - 17:00 afternoon block (if I start earlier I can also finish earlier)

The difference is that nobody pays me for time, so one has to keep an eye on one's productivity.
