The truth is 'Offline marketing' is no different to small / local business consulting. IMers seem to have taken it to mean it MUST involve the internet and that's a big mistake

I worl with local businesses on a variety of business development areas and so can charge much more than the $250-$1000 peanuts that everyone charges for SEO and other basic services...plus, there is no competition either

SEO and first page of Google may make us salivate as IMers but we tend to lose sight of what small businesses really want and its to gow their business into a profitable one, internet or no internet

Thelist above could apply to anyone who wants to work with a business and not ony the 'offline' thing, so think 'business' instead of 'offline'

ShadeDream, yeah dude i missed a lot lately and never seen that thread, thanks for it :)

dont understand the interest for a dentist to have a site, because they already have a ton of patients without any need of advertisement... it is the case in france, and also it is forbidden to promote a medical profession here... and i like it like that :)

The big problem with dentist sites is that people usually go where their insurance pays for them. Chiropractors, Plastic surgeons, and other non-insurance covered businesses do way better from my experience.

Edit: Gyms do awful, do not deal with corporations it won't work.

Hey Ransackedout. I noticed your signature that asks "Want to make $2500 by Sept. 24th?" Tell me more.

Not too long ago, I sold my dentist site to the actual dentist because I was getting 15-20 calls a day. The guy didn't believe me at first but I sat at his office all day answering these calls.

Made a very nice penny off that site.

I know many of you enjoy the anonymous feeling of being behind the computer but you go out and pound the pavement 2 days and I can assure you will get 3-6 mos worth of rent on those days.

So then, my question is, even when you rank your sites, what do you do about google maps? They are always above the sites so how are you still getting visitors. Don't most of your visitors go to the maps?

When it comes to these offline niche sites. You really need to be sure to focus on traffic

think about it most people that use google on a daliy basis are used to
seeing page results with out any maps on it.
So the day they need a local service the map box pops up but 90% of them
have "map box blindness" just like google adwords blindness so the top of
page one in the normal search results is still the best:)

I don't think most people look at the maps to be honest but just in case they do i also create a map listing with my site and get in ranking at the top of the maps!

Cuppatea... very simple but I imagine very effective idea. If getting your position to 1st rank after the maps isn't good enough, put your map on there too!

Or.. go better, and SEO the hell out of your site with backlinks and appear ABOVE the maps... it has happened!

i think that is what i am going to do

I hate it how people out methods it's ********ing annoying. Like that list is just outting other peoples niche which should be taken off. Let people do their own research kez1000 cause my niches are in that list retard

And why should he not help people? After all this forum is all about helping and sharing. And you are the retard if you believe just because he "outes" those niches you will have much more competition, afterall this is local not broad. His list is just a start and there are many more its just giving people some more ideas. But some people are just ********ing assholes not being willing to share I guess.

If you're making $15k/month on a certain niche that you have no competition in and then some ********er outs it on a forum and people start emailing all your clients and you start getting a ********ton of competition what would you do? There's a lot of shit that shouldn't be outted cause you're just ********ing other people over. Let people do their research cause some people have spent hours upon hours researching in vain cause of posts like that.

lobo First of all there is nothing wrong with healthy competition, Secondly I highly Doubt someone is going to knock you off your game. Come on Lobo your in the IM field if someone comes out and put up a road block are you going to stop and cry because they block you? or are you going to find a way around it , under it or through it? I know tons of people who tried to infiltrate niches i have been working on and i just laugh and just push through it. It doesn't matter as long as you offer your clients Good services and build a solid rapport with your clients you should never worry about them leaving. the new individual might have lower prices but they wont have that rapport with clients like you do, and their customer services might be lacking also..

So I recently started a dentist site (to rank and then lease it) and I'm currently ranking #1 for my main keyword "dentist city"(same as url), #3 for "city dentist", and #5 for "dentist in city." I tracked my stats from last month received and I received 72 uniques for the month for a combination of keywords. Google Adwords Keyword tool showed exact search volumes of about 240/mo for "dentist city" and as well as "city dentist."

So I've been stable at #1 for my main keyword and the other keywords now for about 1 month now. So how should I proceed now to try to rent the site? I sent out emails to dentists that were listed on the first 3 pages, but no response.

Should I start calling them and setting up an appointment? I know it will be hard to get past the gatekeeper and actually talk to the dentist, but I guess I will have to try it out. Should I call the same dentists that are ranking on the first 3 pages or just ones on page 2 & 3?

I was thinking of either just having 1 dentist put up their ad on the site or even doing a redirect of my site to the dentist's site so every click on my link the SERPs goes to the dentist sites.

Any suggestions?

I wouldn't redirect if you are renting out your site, this would make your site disappear from the first page.

I can't remember where I heard this saying, however...

There are two ways to have the best, tallest building in town. One is to build a better building. The second is to tear down the other buildings.

It seems like there are some other "builders" moving in to your town. Now the choice is up to you. You can bitch and moan (tearing down someone) or you can take the more productive approach and learn from this (build a better, taller building). Perhaps your marketing wasn't as good or as strong as you thought it was. Or maybe you now realize that you can't just sit on top of a hill with your flag sucking your $15k/month income thumb.

It happens to the best of us once in a while, you just have to ask yourself "What's good about this?" Let your ideas come to the surface and build a better building.

In a medium-sized city (Olympia, WA for example), there will be several thousand doctors. Dentists? Maybe a few hundred, and they are all booked solid. Doctors, especially high-end doctors like surgeons and certain specialists, will be looking to increase their bookings and decrease no-shows.

Let them know that informative websites decrease cancellations (true) and increase interest (also true), and you've gone a long way to sell them a website.

Adoptions: Most adoption agencies are non-profit and not really running a business; at most they are looking for a site to show prospective birth parents that they are professional and safe. However, independent adoption attorneys are running a business by facilitating the adoption when two people know each other (family, friends, etc).

Fitness: OMG, do not even go after fitness gurus or gyms, unless you are dealing with someone who isn't in sales. Gym salesmen are trained negotiators, so definitely proceed only if confident. Fitness stores are probably a safer bet.

Forgot to mention that really, if you were looking to target dentists -- go for it. Hell, in most areas this isn't saturated. But go after cosmetic dentists first, followed by braces, followed by oral surgeons, and only then do the "cavity and teeth cleaning" circuit.

Cosmetic dentists and orthodontists (braces) have a leg-up: before and after pictures. Having a place that is visible and showcases their work without having a huge influx of "meh" patient consultations is attractive. Same situation as plastic surgeons.
