How much does typography affect a design?

[igoorg]

I used to pay attention to colors and graphics but typography can completely change the mood of a design.
The right font choice can make even a simple layout look polished.

tbh it's all about hierarchy and scale... you can make a blank page look high-end just by getting the font weights and spacing right.

[thaaz]

Quite a lot. Good colors and graphics won’t save a design if the spacing, hierarchy or line length makes it tiring to read.

A lot, if the typography is not harmonious in the design, it can completely ruin it

[Olaf Meta Agency]

yeah typography can make or break a design the right font really changes the whole feel

[agoid]

same here. i've found that good typography can make a basic design feel intentional instead of pain.

[imccafey]

Agreed, actually. It's one of those things that can change the entire feel of the design, even when everything else stays the same. It's a lot of these tiny details and specifics of design that can make something feel polished or subpar pretty quickly.
I'd say it's just as much part of the overall visual language as colour and imagery.

I agree with you. When I first started designing, my designs seemed off. Then, over time, I have learned a lot about typography, how it affects the whole design and the vibe. Which font and size get attention first. From basic to advanced rules, typography is a key part of design.

Totally agree, a good font pairing can make a simple layout look pro, and I also notice that spacing and line height matter a lot with it.

Yes typography has a lot of impact on graphic designing and the quality and also the presentation of Design. The selection of exact font style in your designs can enhance them and make them look way better, attractive and clean. While designing if your cover all the aspects but skip the typography it may ruin it or can reduce its effect. Combining and covering all the aspects of designing in any design make it attractive, clean and strong, that's why typography plays an important role in graphic designing.

Switching from a decorative font to Helvetica or Google Fonts Roboto instantly tightens the mood; try it in your next mockup. Set line height to 150% in Figma to keep the text readable.
