Lesson For All: Reddit does NOT Ban IPs in 99.9% of Cases

I've seen some really 'interesting' posts here from people selling reddit services

Even a guy I consulted recently thought this and I had to blow his mind with the truth. Now he's working.

"My IP got banned" Is the topic, many have written in various ways.

Let me assure all of you. Reddit does not Ban IPs.

If Reddit banned the IP of marketers, they would lose millions of accounts in a single day they chose to do that.

Why? Imagine the high school or college kid working on the school network. Imagine the Digital Nomad going place to place, getting every location banned then everybody behind hem getting banned to for being on that IP. Every hotel, etc.

They would need a director of the IPs of every public location, school, etc to avoid banning the majority of their users who are not marketers and are general users.

If you attracted an IP ban, trust, you would know. Their 'special unit' would investigate you on a forum like this, dox your content, and try to snipe everything associated to you but even that's hard if you are slightly smart.

So yeah, think again guys. IPs are not so important as people like to say.

And all the IPs that are on VPNS, etc tend to get banned faster than your natural IP and I guess that's because their is some sort of data scraped to give such major platforms a eagle eye view of all the IPs being sold to mask users. Not really sure.

exactly, account behavior is everything. ive been running aged accounts for years and ip switching means nothing if youre warming properly. the accounts that get hit are the ones with bad behavior patterns, not because of the ip

Yeah, I think people focus way too much on IPs. Reddit looks at a lot more than just your IP, so changing it alone probably won’t make much difference.

Reddit systems are trained on countless bot accounts. Just imagine how many patterns they had to learn on. If behaviour of your account is close by some % to those patterns you get flagged imidiatelly. Technical Fingerprint (like IP, your timezone, hardware you use (yes, they know it) is just the first layer of detection.

Extract of all you actions to a list with all content it have
- upvotes, and what was upvoted
- comments, their content, where commented,
- subreddits you follow,
- dm's
- Just ask youself a question: if I would paste this into any gpt, and gave it to analyse is the main purpose of this account is marketing. Would you pass a test?

Yep totally agree, if your behavior seems spammy or like a bot you can get flagged very fast.

Banning an address and using an address to connect accounts to each other are two separate mechanisms, and this thread is arguing about the first one. The worry most people running more than one account actually carry is the second one, which is whether one account going down drags the rest of that address with it.

That part doesn't need guessing. When an account dies, watch whether the others behind the same address keep running at their normal pace, and open one new account from that address and see whether signup and its first few posts go through the way they usually would. If both hold, nothing is being remembered at the address. If the new one dies early while the older ones carry on, then something is attached to the address even though nobody ever received a ban notice for it.

The account history part is probably the bigger thing to watch here. Two accounts can be on the same connection and behave completely differently so I wouldnt assume the network is the reason one gets hit. Looking at what the accounts were doing before the ban would probably give a much clearer answer

It's not exactly like that. The entire pool of IP addresses from my 4G proxy farm has been flagged. I'm using them for warm-up, hoping they will eventually recover from the flags, but as soon as I make a comment, the account gets banned. I'm paying for residential proxies so I can actually work.

Are you absolutely sure? My bot is still working without any problems.

I've thought about it, believe me. I've thought it through carefully. I've lost $1,000 with that 4G network. It's not really a matter of bans; it's a matter of reputation. If the IPs belonging to a specific pool, usually associated with a particular carrier and region, are flagged, then accounts using those IPs may get permanently banned whenever they perform a permanent action (a comment or post). As you said, not all of them—let's say 80%—but even if it were 40%, that would still make the network unusable.

Not for me. Not for some people here I recently helped with a similiar struggle to yours, either.

I've lost a few accounts here and there but it doesn't stop me .

Reddit can flag IPs, but IP is just one signal. Account behavior, device fingerprints, VPN reputation, and other factors matter too.

nah there's some truth i created a new acc on an anti detect browser and it got shadowbanned after just two comments. They can still pick up your ip and ban new accs
