I wanted to share my journey building a crypto subreddit — partly to document it, partly to get feedback from people who’ve done this before.
Started: October 2025
No big team. No funding. Just consistency, timing, and obsession.
At the beginning, growth was slow. A few posts here and there. Testing headlines. Studying what makes people click, comment, argue, and share.
Then momentum hit.
Current Stats:
The crypto volatility definitely helped — but traffic only stays if the content hits.
What’s Working So Far:
1. Fast reactions to breaking news
When markets move, people refresh Reddit before they refresh charts.
2. Emotional headlines (but not fake ones)
Fear. Greed. Shock. Capitulation.
Crypto is psychological — so the content reflects that.
3. Polarizing but discussion-driven posts
Instead of just “Bitcoin up/down,” I frame it as:
People don’t just read — they debate.
4. Consistency > Virality
Some posts flop. Some explode.
The key is posting daily, regardless of mood or market.
The Goal: 10 Million Monthly Visitors
We’re at 3M.
The pace suggests 10M isn’t crazy.
But here’s what I’m thinking about:
Crypto communities don’t just want information.
They want validation, reassurance, and sometimes — panic.
If you capture the emotion of the moment, the traffic follows.
