Some pages of mine have experienceed an increase in their impressions without my doing anything about it. Do you leave them be and monitor their statistics, or begin looking at what new queries are driving them.

I would start with the analysis of new queries increase in impressions may indicate that the page started showing up for new keywords so i would analyze the queries positions CTR and relevancy of the traffic

first of all, I analyze the newly added keyword nd then compare changes in rank nd CTRs. Sometimes the rise in impression comes from testing the page for some keyword.

I usually look at the query changes, average position, and CTR before touching anything. A sudden impression increase can be a good sign that Google is testing the page for a wider range of searches.

I’d also separate ranking growth from search demand. Compare the same queries across two equal periods. If impressions rise while average position stays roughly flat, the page may not have improved at all. The query itself might simply be searched more.

Then split it by country and device. If the jump is isolated to one market or mostly mobile, that gives you a much better clue than editing the page straight away.

Majorly what I have analyzed is the increase in impressions is mostly related to queries triggered in AI Overviews search. Just check the average position for those queries in search console, which you will find as ranking from 1 to 5. These queries tend to have more keyword search impressions.

I’d check the new queries first rather than changing anything Look at which keywords are driving the extra impressions and whether rankings are improving If the trend is positive I’d monitor before making changes

Don’t change the page immediately. First find where the new impressions are coming from, then make small updates if you see a clear opportunity.

i’d also check clicks/conversions… more impressions sounds nice but if nothing else moves, google might just be testing the page wider and it may disappear again

first i would analyze the recent queries in order to figure out the reason y there is an increase in them. u may find a number of surpprising keywords that need to be further developed but in other cases, it can just be a temporary surge.

Of course i would starts with checking the new key words, whether they are related or jsst some random long tail impressions. In case they were fine I generally prefer to keeps it like that and observe CTR or ranking movements first.

Organic growth can uncover keyword opportunists you did not even target intentionally.

I just got to ride the wave out and continue with your plan if you're starting to get more engagement. Seems like you got some good targeting.

I would always starts with the new searches if the impressions had increased suddenly. It is also gud to monitor whether the pages has started being tested for the other key word searches.

Don’t change anything too quickly. First find what caused the increase and see if it turns into clicks and conversions.

You should definitely dig into the new queries driving those impressions to see if your target audience's search intent is shifting or if you've accidentally stumbled into a new keyword opportunity worth optimizing for.

I’d check Search Console for the new queries and positions first. If the impressions are growing, I’d usually monitor the page before making major changes
Yes, that’s definitely the best way to go about things. If your impressions and rankings are on an upward trajectory, then it would be better if you gave it some more time and didn’t over-optimize from a couple of irrelevant keywords.
