Hi! Im a writer at 3 massive news websites (think Usatoday, Newsweek etc in terms of size). The pay as a writer is very bad and I am looking to leverage the fact that I write at these places, what'd be the best way to go about this?

You are sitting on a goldmine if you play it smart @Capslocked. The obvious route is selling link insertions or guest posts but you have to be careful or you will get your author account nuked. Most of those big editorial sites have editors who double check outbound links. Best way is to connect with high-end SEO agencies or PR brokers who have clients willing to pay 1k+ per link... just don't sell directly on public marketplaces or you will get caught. Keep the links super relevant to the article so it passes editorial review.
How would I go about finding the agencies? Obviously I wouldnt ever do stuff to nuke my acc, but on 2/3 sites I have editors perms so I can edit articles afterwards etc. Do you think this route is better than just helping people with normal PR?

Honestly, having those names on your resume is already a big advantage. I’d probably just start pitching directly to better-paying clients.

Unfortunately, and just keeping it real here, Im way too underqualified and lucked into these roles via really good networking. I wouldn't want to push further in this industry, rather side gig / use it for something else.

I wouldn’t sell links or article edits through those publications. That could turn a valuable position into a very short-lived side income.

PR pitch feedback, research briefs, ghostwriting or helping founders shape an article would be much safer. Basically sell what you know about editorial standards, not your access to the CMS.

Perfectly. Use the big name publications as credibility, not Your main income.

Build a simple portfolio showing those bylines. Pick your strongest niche.
Pitch companies, CEOs, agencies, and better paying publications. Sell expertise + credibility, not cheap articles. Keep the current publications until higher paying work replaces them.

I think your bylines are basically your proof that You're good enough to charge more.

Writers are making money with monetize of content either with adding brand-name or promotion banner to get certain earnings with update news pages, sharing of coding affiliate links could be an option for the news pages to covert readers/webpage visitors.

bylines give you credibility, so niche ghostwriting or consulting could be a solid way to turn that into higher paying work

hi i would recommend you to use your published articles and writer profiles to build a strong portfolio and then pitch better paying clients or publications.
