Lazy load option for shops is good idea or not ?

in this days im struggeling with my website performance
my website is a flowershop on woocommerce wordpress

one the things is some important is lazy load , google advises that but you know when you want to sell something people like to see it before buying and if you enable lazyload it will load after contens fully load

so what do you think ? loading images firts keeps buyers engaged or its not good idea ?

I have always used lazy load, i have not done much testing on keeping buying engaged, but i am pretty its not going to have much impact on buyer retention if you have targeted traffic.

lazy loading speeds up your performance, I agree with google / others saying this.

In my opinion if your website is done properly, lazy loading images should not be a concern related to your visitors. Meaning, even with lazy loading, if site is done well, when visitors scroll to any image, it should load really fast (if not instantly lol). the problem with wordpress is that you cannot control absolutely everything, but it gives you a way to build websites without that much knowledge on how to code.

-> I don't think loading images first will give you such an increase in conversions, but if you optimize well your page you actually might see an increase in overall performance. Especially when you might have really many images (since you have a flower shop - have to display them I guess)

Try lazy load, use PageSpeed Inisghts before and after maybe you'll see something shifting (in the better I hope)

I personally use lazy load, but not for the images that appear above the fold. Those should load normally so customers see the products immediately.

highly recommanded to optimize images choose webp format always , keep em small size no need for 8k or 4k images 1-2k is more than enough , lazy load them , not the whole page only images , if you prefer to load the bundle make sure there is a loader or something , minimize css and js as well don't if you are into dev , these practices will increase performance and loading time instantly

Usually you can exclude above the fold images from lazy loading through your caching plugin. Keep the main hero image loading normally, and let the images further down the page lazy load. Most good optimization plugins have an option for this.

Yeah, jetpack boost is a bit limited there. You may need to exclude the hero image using the theme or another optimization plugin, rather than relying on jetpack boost alone.

Still use lazy loading, but not for the main product/hero images.

Let those load immediately, then lazy-load images further down the page. That way the important visuals show quickly without slowing down the whole page.
