As someone who has used reddit for some time, how important do you feel that karma is in building a good reputation? Obviously contributions are more important, but does having high karma really influence the contribution's impact?

It still plays a minor role due to the fact that most people tend to trust the verified accounts.

I would argue that karma serves to benefit credibility and access, but substantial contributions carry more weight.

Being consistent and genuinely helpful will get you much further than chasing numbers on your profile.

karma matters way more than ppl think specially when ur account is new or aged. reddit's algo def takes it into account for post visibility and comment weight. ive run tons of aged accounts and higher karma ones get prioritized, it helps with algorithm ranking but yeah contributions still matter most

Karma definitely helps with credibility especially on a newer account but good contributions matter more in the long run a high karma score alone doesn’t make a post valuable if the actual content isn’t useful

It's one of the strong factors, and it has a substantial impact. I checked both the new user account and the high karma account with similar content. The new user account washed away, but the high karma account gained more than 1K views within an hour.

Yes, karma matters!

I believe that karma is an important thing, and you can’t do without it :)

Low karma means low trust and constant AutoMod removals I think once you hit around 1k+ karma (specifically comment karma over post karma), the account becomes much smoother to operate and gives a reasonable boost to avoid getting caught in spam filters
