Is anyone still seeing success with PBNs in 2026?

i think that's the main issue now PBNs can still work in some cases but the maintenance and risk make quality guest posts look much more attractive for long term projects

It seems like the cost of maintaining a truly safe PBN is outweighing the benefits compared to just buying high-quality guest posts.
I agree, but when it comes to cost the PBN wins, so most of them are going behind PBN's. If you are willing to purchase PBN check whether there is guaranteed indexing and proceed further

i m beginning to understand this too. PBNs do have some success but the maintenance, hosting, domains nd footprints all take their toll. it is such more relaxed nd straightforward with good guest posting as well if the placement makes sense nd is on good websites.

Yes, you will still find people who claim that PBNs work in 2026 but I would draw a distinction between the ability to still deliver results or improvements and being a reliable SEO strategy.

They still work but they are highly risk, if you get caught your sites are going to get penalized.

PBNs can still work, but the risk to reward ratio feels much worse in 2026. For most sites, I'd rather invest that budget in genuinely relevant, high-quality guest posts and build a more sustainable link profile.

certainly, they can continue to make their mark, but in my humble opinion, becuz of the problems of maintenance nd footprint, it makes it harder to recommend them. any project that is long-term, I would say a guest post would be the way to go.

Lots of silly AI answers again.

PBNs work perfectly well, and they're not as difficult as those bots claim.

Yes, buying high quality posts can be easier, but in some niches it's hard to buy them or they are very expensive. But with paid links, you may lose that link when they decide to delete the article or shut down the site. With a PBN, you will keep your link as long as the site stays up.

And nowadays you have LLM optimization too.. so owning a PBN is a massive benefit because you can control exactly what and how you show to LLM crawlers.

So, at the end of the day, it depends on what you are trying to do, but in most cases, having a solid PBN is a wonderful investment.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen any case studies on ranking sites using PBNs. Do you have any recent results or case studies you could share? :)

PBNs can still work in 2026, but I think the cost comparison with guest posts depends on how the network is built.

A small set of strong, relevant domains with real history can be useful, while maintaining a large network of domains can quickly become expensive.

At that point, quality guest posts can definitely give better value.

I think the main issue is the cost of maintaining PBNs. I still use both PBNs and guest posts, but it depends on the project and budget. If the PBN is clean and relevant, it can still work.

In my opinion, it still works, but I wouldn't rely on it entirely, because I can see on my own sites that it doesn't carry as much weight or importance as actual paid links on real, strong domains. Internal linking is also important; it carries just as much weight as external backlinks.

I think PBNs can still move the needle but the economics are much harder to justify in 2026, if your constantly paying for domains, hosting, maintenance and replacements high quality guest posts or genuine editorial links can offer a better risk to reward ratio.

For me the bigger question isnt whether PBNs work but whether the link is actually worth the cost and risk compared with other ways of acquiring authority, Google also continues to target manipulative link practices so I wouldnt treat PBNs as a long term strategy by themselves.

I had a PBN with 20 sites. Took so much time to maintain that I barely saw the ROI. Guest posts saved me hours each week. What's your experience?
