Been lurking for a while and honestly, I'm just curious – what kind of work are people here really in?

I know BHW is famous for SEO, search engine stuff, so you'd expect most members to have some decent IT, SEO, or even dev skills. That makes sense. But when I scroll through the marketplace reviews and random comments, the range of buyers completely throws me off.

One minute it's someone trying to rank an online casino, the next it's a guy with a website for a kids' fair in a tiny town, then someone pushing their local restaurant. It's all over the place.

For the casino guy, I get it – that world is insanely competitive, you need serious SEO firepower. But the restaurant? The small-town fair? In 2026, is the meta really that deep for them? Like, do you now need to be basically semi-technical and manage complex SEO just to crush local competition? If that's the case, these kinds of businesses must be absolutely destroying their competitors, considering how many local joints don't even have a proper website.

My theory is that a lot of them are just SEO reseller contacting directly thoses restaurant / " normal niche " buiness , but still ... It's funny to see such effort to buy SEO packages, like backlinks that cost some decent money

Anyway, I'm rambling, but I'm genuinely curious: what's the typical profile of someone buying backlinks here? Who's actually behind those orders – casino operators, agencies reselling at 3x, or just random business owners who got way deeper into SEO than I'd ever expect?

well, at least that's what makes BHW interesting since there is a variety of people ranging from the chief of organizations to local businesses trying to figure out SEO. the local busineses do outsource since they know they have to be visible yet they don't want to dive into details.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that too. Seems like you get a bit of everything here lol. SEO guys, freelancers, affiliate people, agency owners… and then some totally random stuff.

and this is one of the reason i love this forum, recent update and people with experience are just much here so i dont feel alone working on impossible tasks or asking questions

Local businesses don't need crazy SEO, but in competitive areas even small improvements in local visibility, reviews, citations, content and relevant links can make a noticeable difference.

I think it's a mi agencies/resellers, and genuine business owners

i believe that it will be a combination of both SEO firms resellers nd people who learned the basic skills on their own. local firms could benefit greatly from just a few high quality backlinks if there is little competition in the reggion.

The truth is that most of the SEO experts are not the real guy and they are just reselling others services with a little profit to make living. I've opened a wtb thread about Backlinks and most of them were just junk links that you can get with 1/2 of the asking price. Bhw isn't for noobs, you need to dig much deeper to find the good ones with a real portfolio

to be frank the buyer persona is probably wider than that of the regular SEO guy. Some of them may probably come from advertising agencies but some others might be small business owners who are working on SEO for themselves. local niches are also highly competitive once a restaurant owner realizes that his competitors have been gaining traffic via google, he might see SEO value prety fast.

Most profiles are here mix and many businesses just register, find the info or backlink or anything they are here for. Then leave. Never come back.
Some of us are agencies, freelancers and resellers.
Some are scammers :)

I've also noticed that many local businesses don't need anything extremely complicated. If their competitors are doing almost nothing online, even a basic but consistent SEO strategy can make a big difference.

Is there anything you need that you wouldn't find on BHW? You name it, and there it is. From big businesses to that little store by the street corner. Then the knowledge base is outstanding. Finally, if you want annoying and seemingly questions without answers, BHW has got you covered. Just look around.
