I'm considering eBay selling... your thoughts?

I'm trying to create multiple streams of income for myself, in addition to my main money maker(which is not an online venture), and have been considering ebay. I have a business set up but not being "used" yet, with a sales tax ID so I can buy wholesale. The problem is, everything on ebay is so damn competitive... I just don't know what to get into!

I have no interest in replicas or anything that will get my ebay or paypal accounts banned, I want to be legit. I am not opposed to drop shipping or buying in bulk and keeping inventory, so either (whichever is more profitable, really) is fine with me. I just don't know WHERE to find any legitimate, trustworthy wholesalers. And, I'd like to find a REAL wholesaler, not a discount retailer. I don't want high priced items, because I don't want to buy 100 of something that costs more than $20, at least not right now. On the other hand, I don't want to bother selling stuff like sell phone chargers... I need to make more than a few pennies per item for it to be worth my time.

I'm sure I'm missing some relevant information, but any input is appreciated.

Go for it. I used to make some money on ebay. I don't sell on ebay anymore though, it is time for me to move onto bigger and better things. Sell fake polo shirts. Buy them for 10 and sell them for 30. Fake polos always sell, especially Lacostes.

It's so hard to answer these threads, because you want to tell people whats profitable and what they should buy, but at the same time, if I've found it's profitable then I'm currently involved in selling in it.

The thing about eBay is that right now, all Americans are kind of feeling the pinch from China sellers. Most items being made there, they can get it cheaper, and they don't care if they are working for pennies. Shipping sure isn't expensive either, especially since international mailing is set at their price structure. I can get a shirt shipped from China to the U.S. for just $3 or $4 USD.

In all honesty, having to buy 100 of something at $20 a piece are some of the only things that WILL make you money on eBay, mostly because people in Hong Kong are less likely to make that kind of investment.

Things in most of Asia are ass-backwards. In the United States for example, you have an item, you sell the item, end of transaction. In Asia, it's you Say you have the item, you sell the item, you figure out how you can obtain the item and send it out, end of transaction. It's just the norm there. Go read through the "Wholesale and Dropshipping" threads, most of those people that are located in China have absolutely no inventory, but they know where to get stuff. You send them the money, they set a good deal with the actual suppliers, they purchase the goods with your money, and they keep the rest for themselves. This is how 99% of how Alibaba works. (That's not some made up number either.)

I am also wondering about this.. I am currently working on a software project, but my girlfriend does the whole ebay schtick. I have no desire selling on ebay, but she likes it, and I would consider putting some money towards some wholesale stuff for her to plug away with on ebay.

She says women's name brand clothing sells like hotcakes, but I don't know where to find any wholesale, from a place that I would trust, anyways. Is there a good wholesaler that anyone would recommend? She is bored at home and needs something to do!

I don't think selling on ebay is worth it.. too many fees, and too many complaints.. perhaps my own fault as i bought replica, but the supplier claimed it was real...

think outside the box. ebay is considered by many the only market place. but there are clones. try the local ones for every contry and you will get results

No problem man. I suggest just buying 1 lot of 10 shirts for starting and see how it goes. If you can find a good price, 10 shirts will cost you about $110. You will make an average of $15 profit from each shirt after fees etc.

This won't work anymore, especially with Lacoste you kidding? You'll be hit with VeRO MC019 violations within a week or less. Plus the OP said that he wanted to be legit, selling fake Lacoste polos is as far from legit as it gets.

it is recommended to have at least 2000-3000 grand capital to generate very significant business of ebay....not even profit yet....
