Hit counter backlink spam

Anybody knows anything about this method? I see lots of such spam, and the websites using this method can be found top ranked on some very competitive searches (160M) ...
And this is not just now, here and there, this is several websites ranking high for years! And it`s very hard to outrank them!
Hit counters seem to be from Pakistani companies, websites in question are probably from the same companies.
How can one take advantage of this method, besides making a hit counter service?

I think I know why G love these links. There are lots of them, from a wide variety of websites, sitewide, and they aren`t profiles nor comments.
But it`s ridiculous it can`t see they are just hit counters ...

Any similar method?

Make something else that people want to have on their sites that you can build a link into... A hit counter is just one of many possible options.

Like WP templates? I did that for another website. Results - not so good ... Like G prefer hit counter links over WP theme links ...

Well, let's be fair - did you make money the first day you tried to online? Very rarely does something work the first time. Maybe the better phrase would be, anything else of VALUE that RESPECTED sites will want on their page, not just every shmoe that starts up a splog
