Am I Overthinking Affiliate Marketing? Need Advice Before I Spend $3k

I've been researching affiliate marketing for a while now, and the more I learn, the more I realize how many different opinions there are.

Some people say ClickBank is the best place to start, others recommend Digistore24, while others suggest WarriorPlus, JVZoo, or completely different approaches. After spending hours reading forums, watching videos, and doing my own research, I honestly feel like I've overloaded myself with information.

My goal isn't to make a few quick dollars or chase the latest "hustle." I want to treat affiliate marketing like a real business that I can build and scale over the long term.

Right now, I have around $3,000 that I'm willing to invest into learning and building this business properly. I'm not looking for shortcuts - I just don't want to waste months going in the wrong direction.

A little bit about where I'm at:

• I already created a WarriorPlus account and I'm currently waiting for my account to be verified and approved so I can start applying to promote products.
• I also own an Instagram page with 10k+ followers, where around 50-70% of the audience is from the US, and the audience is primarily male.

One strategy that has really caught my attention is combining organic traffic from Instagram and TikTok with AI-generated content, then eventually scaling with paid ads once I have a profitable system. But I'm not sure if that's actually the smartest path, or if I'm overlooking something more important.

I'd really appreciate advice from people who have already built successful affiliate businesses.

Some of the questions I'm struggling with are:

• If you were starting from scratch today, what path would you choose?
• How do you actually choose a niche instead of just guessing?
• Should I focus on organic traffic first, paid ads first, or both?
• What traffic sources have given you the best long-term results?
• What beginner mistakes should I avoid?
• Are platforms like ClickBank, WarriorPlus, Digistore24, and JVZoo good places to start, or would you recommend something else?
• If you had a $3,000 starting budget, how would you invest it?

Ultimately, my goal is to build something that has real long-term scalability, not a business that hits a ceiling after making a few thousand dollars. I'm happy to put in the work - I just want to make sure I'm putting my time and money into the right direction from the beginning.

If I'm going to promote something on Instagram with this page I'd like it to be an offer that also works well with organic traffic.

I would start by choosing a niche, where you have an edge, such as knowledge, or know the audience, or know what solutions are required. Then, find what's easy to promote and actually works. Consider a mindset of helping people and referring them to something cool, instead of blasting stuff around the net for comissions. Don't promote stuff you wouldn't recommend to friends and family.

yea I’d choose something that matches the audience you already have a good offer fit is usually more important than chasing the highest commission.

Do you think it would be better to create my own eBook on a specific topic, or would it be better to promote products from platforms like ClickBank, Digistore24, WarriorPlus etc...

You're right - women do spend more money online. However, if I want to use my Instagram page with 10k followers, around 50–70% of my audience is male and based in the US
So if I were to target women, I'd have to generate traffic in a completely different way for offers aimed at them.

you can try to optimize posts to get more women on board doesn't have to be a dramatic change
