Telegram has been removed from the iOS App Store worldwide.Apple has not provided a reason for the removal, and neither Apple nor Telegram has issued an official statement for now. Existing installations appear to remain functional. :(

Might be politically motivated. They are tweeting like this for some time now. But yes a lot of my stuff depends upon telegram, lets say it don't disappear.

That's surprising. Hopefully it's just a temporary issue rather than a permanent removal.

just noticed that. May be temp app issue and they are updating new version.

Telegram is once again available on Apple's App Store after being temporarily removed. :smirk:

ohhh i still have mine but i believe it will be brought back it can just me something temporal

It could be due to an application system update or a removal we need an official announcement rather than just having it disappear for a while, which might lead us to draw inaccurate, premature conclusions.

It is difficult to say whether there was any political reason behind it without an official statement. A lot of my work relies on Telegram, so I really hope this was just a temporary problem and does not happen again.

We checked this, since the whole business sits on that platform. Apple's public lookup endpoint, queried with the Telegram app id on its own, returned nothing for the United States, Germany and India while returning the app normally for Turkey, the United Kingdom, Canada and several others. Repeated three times each, same result, so it looked like a partial removal.

Then the public search endpoint, queried by name in those same storefronts, returned Telegram Messenger by Telegram FZ-LLC in both the United States and Germany, and a lookup passing two app ids at once also returned it for the United States. So the empty results were a quirk of that one endpoint rather than evidence of anything.

Both calls are plain URLs anyone can run in a browser in under a minute, and they're worth running before a removal story spreads. What happens tomorrow we can't tell you. Right now it resolves in every storefront we tested.

Best,
Floqal
