a single sale can easily cover years of collecting if you happen to own a name that the right buyer really wants

You can get them, however if you plan to do this on on a larger scale, you would need to get a device, and get a script that can just find and create accounts by giving it the username you want. That is one good way to do it.

How many such usernames have you collected? If you have a large number, I think you could open an agency offering this service; it would be quite effective.
