Hello everyone,
I’m trying to understand why my Reddit accounts seem to get banned after I mention my company.
My main account was over one year old and had around 5,000 karma, built through regular posting, commenting, and genuine engagement. From time to time, I would mention my company when it was relevant to the conversation, while trying to keep it helpful and not overly promotional.
Last month, I included my company’s website link in a comment for the first time, and that account was banned shortly afterward. We have four other accounts using the same IP address, and none have been banned so far. However, we are concerned that mentioning our company name from those accounts could cause them to be banned as well.
We have also had friends use our Wi-Fi. After my account was banned, some of their accounts were banned shortly after mentioning our company name. We are wondering whether Reddit linked those accounts through the shared IP address and then flagged the company name.
After that, I used a different account that is 12 years old and has decent karma. I bought the account some time ago and had previously used it through GoLogin, but I had not used it for about a month. After my main account was banned, I used this account normally for two or three days without any issues. Then, after making one comment that mentioned my company, that account was banned too.
I also created new Gmail accounts through public Wi-Fi and used residential proxies through Multilogin. However, one of those accounts was also banned after promoting my company.
At this point, I’m wondering whether Reddit has flagged my company name as spam. Is that possible? Has anyone experienced multiple accounts being banned after mentioning the same brand?
I’m trying to understand what may be causing this and what the best next step would be. Should I stop mentioning the company entirely for a long period? Or was it the setup?
We are now looking into buying regular phones and creating Reddit accounts on them using public Wi-Fi, warming them up for a few months, and then hopefully being able to mention our company.
