How about a Championship of Reports with a public leaderboard on BHW?

With the @SirTop's thread success during the World Cup, it's clear that BHW members are very competitive.

We could use it to create a Report Championship here - weekly updated. Only counting approved reports. This could encourage more members to actively report AIs, bots, post inflation, scammers, spammers and other violations, it could work to help mods to clean this forum and increase the amount of reports, because just politely asking without incentives or competitiveness is not working so well, people do not report that much, just complain without reporting.

A public leaderboard like the WC thread, updating it once a week (it will take some time to count and update it, maybe it can be automated, but I guess it worth it, if the amount of approved reports really increases, in the end it would help mods and save their time)

The only potential downside i can see is a potential increase in fake reports, but members doing that can be warned or banned, I don't think it will be a major issue.

Maybe 1 point for each approved report. And lose 1 point for each rejected report.

An annual prize for the winner is also welcome, but I won't suggest specific prizes because I don't know how realistic and feasible they are. A suggestion is a lifetime access to an AI girlfriend...just kidding (or not).

I agree, i think something to encourage people to report would be good, but not this, its supposed to be anon. Some of us enjoy working in the dark...

I get the idea, but I'd say no.

I sometimes make a single report that encompasses five or more accounts, which would count as only one point on the leaderboard. Someone reporting all five individually would get five points, but would also clog the modqueue and potentially have multiple mods investigating different parts of the same core issue.

Same with spammers who make fifteen posts in three minutes. Staff would have to merge or individually close out fifteen tickets, rather than handle the account once and resolve a single report.

It would incentivize quantity over quality while creating more work for the staff.

@PetraAnn said that being a good reporter will be a requirement for the experience program, so that should already motivate people to make better reports without turning it into a competition.

Actually, the reporting process is working really well and we have been particularly busy in the last few weeks especially. It's the busiest I've personally seen it since I came on board towards the beginning of last year.

I'm not sure how this could be automated with Xenforo's software and if it can't be then that's going to be a significant job for someone to take on.

This is a much more major downside than you are suggesting. It would unquestionably lead to a rise in fake reports and there would certainly be situations arising where somebody would create extra accounts to report from their main account to build up their score on that account. It would create far more work for us in having to investigate what's real and what isn't.

This would discourage people from reporting. They would see themselves as being punished for a rejected report. And as we've said before, having a report rejected should not be seen as a bad thing and we would never discourage people from reporting if they didn't get it right or have the full facts. A report is a guide to staff for us to look at something and sometimes members will be wrong or not have the full facts on a situation. They shouldn't be punished for that.

Similar to above, this would just lead to a significant rise in attempts at gaming the system.

We will leave the thread open for further thoughts on this, though, to see what the community's take is on it.

I don't think a leaderboard is the way to go. I agree with what @SettingSun77 has said.

HOWEVER, as you guys know we're working on building out an Experience Program (an expanded Executive program) and reporting IS being built into it.

There are many ways to engage with the forum and reporting is one of them. It really helps the Community Team when problematic behaviour and rules violations are reported. It helps us identify farms as well. I actually managed to put everything together on a farm I've been tracking today due to a report.

But also reporting typos, mistakes, and errors helps a lot as well.

So reporting will be a part of every tier in the program.
