Guys

Not sure who would need such speeds but it is here. 1GB/sec for $350 a month. A movie download in about 4 minutes - LOL. Saw this on yahoo news earlier.

Damn in India we still have a maximum of 50mbps available and price is almost 200USD. :y:

How big is that movie you are talking about :) It looks to me it will take less than a second for a dvd-rip movie :D

300 hours of unedited material - "Make your own movie" style :D

He has obviously used the wrong unit, I think he is referring to 1000Gbits / s.
This is a world of difference, a speed like this would actually produce about 120 megabytes a second, that being said you would need a dedicated router as well as a really strong torrent with a lot of seeders

No he is right. I live in Chattanooga and have signed up for the the service and it really is 1g per second up and down.

If they had better routers, modems and cables I would SOOOOOOOO do this just for video gaming.

Are you sure it's 1GB and not 1Gb per second?

1GB = 1 Gigabyte of info per second
1Gb = 1 Gigabit of info per second

Most Internet speeds are rated in bits per second.

Either way it's still very fast.

It's the second one I think. This press release is better.

Either way, really fast. A sign of things to come. i am sure this will be common place in about 5 years or so.

is this really a serious talk? even if we assume 1GB/s internet speed.. why on earth i'll download 240gb movie when i have torrents or some other options.

@OP: u mean GB or Gb?

is it GB or Gb

and 1B (byte) = 8b (bit)

so which is it.
