MySpace, Weibo and Tumblr sections are just a deposit of spam here, let's delete them

I guess this was already suggested years ago, but in a few months we will be in 2027 and BHW still has those useless sections here.

MySpace = completely, utterly useless. Literally nobody cares about it anymore. The only posts there are from newbies spamming shit or old guys saying (two years ago btw) ''we miss it''
Tumblr = not as useless as Myspace, but there are so many social media more relevant than that...super decadent, that section is used and abused by spammers too
Weibo = still relevant in a very narrow audience, not even the Chinese guys on this forum are using that section, is just for spammers. 108 posts in fcking 10 years.

Just delete them So we don't need to even waste our time reporting those posts there. And mods do not need to waste their time with them as well.

If you guys want to replace them, there are SEVERAL more useful social media platforms like Discord, Telegram, Blue Sky, Quora, even Snapchat. (Just do not create one for Threads, that shit was born dead).

You guys can castrate me if there are less threads on BHW about Quora than Weibo in 10 years. Or about Telegram compared to MySpace in the last 10 years. They are waaaay more relevant.

There is always a mention for that rule, something like ''we need to have at least 50 threads about something to create a new section here'', this is not true, that Weibo section took like 5 years to reach 50 posts xD

So, how about deleting those sections or at least replace them for more relevant ones?

Good suggestion. MySpace and Weibo are literal zombies walking in the forum. Tumblr tried multiple times but failed to recover. It was dead as soon as they banned adult content.

I don't know why Quora wasn't here as it was as popular as Reddit 4-5 years ago. It is not as popular as it used to be but not declining either. Telegram deserves a separate section for sure. It's growing under the carpet while we are not talking about it. A separate section might encourage people to share their strategies. I'm not sure about the reach of other platforms and if they deserve separate sections. We have little discussion for Discord, Blue Sky, and Snapchat. So, it's better to conduct a poll for these platforms to check user interest.

Going through the entire forum and figuring out what's still relevant and what isn't is a discussion community has and it's on our giant, never getting close to the bottom, to do list.

In fact some hidden sections (IYKYK) are also up for discussion.

Just delete them
maybe, just maybe, those sections work to bring extra traffic as some pages could rank for some keywords in some search engines

If they really aren't bothering anybody, they could stay up.

Just my 2 cents

AI generated bullshit won't bring traffic because nobody even cares enough to search about it in 2026, you can check the amount of views and replies on those threads to confirm it

also those threads are so useless that they can't even rank on Google, just for keywords receiving 1 visitor per year

small reward, big problems caused by spammers abusing this forum and spreading garbage on those sections

Migrating those threads to the Social Media forum would still preserve any SEO value, while considerably decluttering and modernizing the main forum list.

There's already set criteria for opening new forums (50 engaged threads in 90 days IIRC), there should probably be similar criteria for merging them back into their parent forum after a year or two of zero meaningful activity.

Yeah, that can work well

while those srctions arnt as popular as they once were
some people still use them, so while it might hold little
value to the 4 of you, others might still uses it

MySpace, 5-10 million active ussers
Weibo 600 million active users
Tumblr 140 million active users

weibo could have 6 billion active users, it's pointless if none of them are here
this section has 108 posts in 10 years
same applies for the others
other social media are much bigger than tumblr or myspace, they don't have a section, but they have much more posts and attention here

so we remove 3 categories from bhw that in the real world
get 750 million active montly users - just because of 4 people
on bhw

thats 4 people from bhws 1 million registured members
feel it pointless - do you speak for the 1 million members of
bhw ?

if bhw goes that route it should hold a poll not do it because 4
of the 1 million members bhw has wished it so. i understand why
you propose this - but you cant speak for the whole forum.

you find those 3 cats of little value - ok
but that doesnt mean everyone does.

Just prove me that those sections are relevant with 100-500 posts in 10 years

If BHW had a section for all social media based on active users, we'd be totally cooked

Signal, Tieba, Teams, Twitch...they all have more than 100M active users, combined they have hundreds of millions

Let's create new sections for them as well, basically nobody talks about them here, but just external numbers matter

Kuaishou 700M users, never saw anyone talking about it here, but probably there is some bots who could enjoy it too

this section - mods would always say to act on something
write a thread explaining why you think XYZ

but if only a handful of people supported that thread
the idea was scrubbed . 4 people from 1 million members
isnt an overwhelming majority . its 4. ill leave it there.

have a nice weekend

4 people from 1 million members
And there are fewer than 500 of that million+ online at the moment. Should banned bots and inactive farmed accounts really get a vote?

Nobody is suggesting that four members make the decision. BHW is a business, not a democracy, I trust the staff will make the right call.

Reddit group too. Look at all the random 'new' accounts posting ai-created spam. Such vague responses.

and still this is based on the askings of 5 people
on a forum of hundreds of thouands.

lol at this.

You expected a hundred K people to come and give their assessment under this thread?

Nobody cares really; those sections are abandoned. Most people don't even know what they are for.

As always, if people really cares about those sections they would be active, not posting on them twice per year. Internet is not the same as it was in 2010, some sections need to be replaced, create a Python and a Java sections instead of VB6 section and I'm sure there will be much more people interested.

If not, just delete it and clean the forum, mods banned the spammer, but spammers may realize that those zombie sections can be a good spot to farm comments without getting noticed. Just giving more workload for mods in vain.
