What's an Underrated Affiliate Program That More People Should Know About

I'm looking to diversify beyond the most popular affiliate networks.

Have you come across any underrated affiliate programs that have been worth promoting? It doesn't have to be the highest paying just something you've had a good experience with.

I'd love to hear your recommendations and why they've worked for you

I think niche relevance is more important than just chasing the highest commission. Some smaller affiliate programs convert surprisingly well because the audience is a better match and there's less competition than with the big networks. I've also noticed that programs with longer cookie durations and responsive affiliate managers tend to be easier to work with over the long run. Curious to see which underrated programs others have had success with.

Yeah @Johnvictor makes a solid point about smaller programs. honestly the best underrated ones are almost always in-house saas programs that don't even list on the big networks. if you find some mid-tier utility tool in a specific niche and scroll to their footer, they usually run their own program through firstpromoter or rewardful. since they don't get spammed by thousands of low quality affiliates, the managers are actually responsive and you can usually negotiate better terms or custom landing pages pretty quickly once you show you can send real traffic. another angle is pay per call... way less crowded than standard affiliate offers if you know how to drive local search traffic.

Lol @sdg1977 kinda missed the point there, those are the exact giant networks OP wants to avoid...

Anyway, @starkwaters has the right idea with the in-house saas stuff. If you want the real underrated gems, go search Product Hunt or IndieHackers for micro-saas tools that launched in the last year. A lot of these dev founders have great products but zero marketing skills. Even if they dont have an affiliate program listed in the footer, just DM them on Twitter. Most of them will gladly set up a custom 30% or 40% recurring deal for you on Rewardful just to get some traffic. You get way better payouts and zero competition.

The recurring saas angle is good but one thing that bites people is churn. Signing up 40 people at 30% recurring looks amazing on a spreadsheet, then half of them cancel by month three and your MRR quietly decays. So before I send any real volume I try to get a feel for the product retention... sometimes you can just ask the founder straight what their monthly churn is like, and if they dodge it thats usually a tell.

Also worth adding to what @BidNomad said, a lot of those small rewardful/firstpromoter setups are configured kinda sloppy. Bad attribution windows, no assisted conversion credit, that sort of thing. I've seen people leak a chunk of commissions just because the founder set it to last click with a 1 day cookie and never touched it again. Run a test click through your own funnel before you commit, takes 5 min and saves headaches.

Niche match still beats payout imo, but tracking reliability is the boring part nobody checks until they've already burned traffic.
