Hello everyone
I am very new to SEO, so please excuse me my ignorance if i ask a trivial question.

I made a program in C# that goes to a bunch of websites, manipulates the DOM so that a random <a> tag's href change to my website's url and then i simulate a click on it.

This way, a hit is registered on my site with the original site being the referrer.

Is this of any help?

Well, there are few problems with this method. First, it would be easier for you to change referer in your bot and visit your site. Second, if you are visiting your site with same ip, there is no benefit at all.
The best result for you would be to get number of ip's, and do a G search on your site. After that click on link provided on SERPs.

Hello guys. Thanks for your replies!

Minute80, I have a bunch of servers which i administer and there are number of different computers where i have this bot running on different ips so the ip is not a problem.
are you recommending to just make the bot go to my site with the httpReffer changed? assuming that works, does that help in SEO (i.e. does google like visits from different sites and assumes its valid links which are being pressed)?

2) The site was launched and submitted only a couple of days ago so it still doesnt appear on SERPs.. so ill do that once it starts appearing... any idea how long that takes?

Google does reverse lookup on the ip, so it will detect that your clicking ip is tied to a particular server companies. When they see that most of the traffic is coming from there (like when you decide to use proxies) it will ban your account.
If you have clicking bot running on computers with residental ip, than it "should" work, but still, you have to be to cautios with that (ips canno be the same, there shouldn't originate from same city, clear cookies and flash cookies, time spent on site before clicking etc.)

Create a site map and submit it to Google's Webmaster tool. Submit your site's url to various RSS pinging services and ping it. That should speed up a process.

remember too, the java navigator object is where they get a lot of their info from. Sure you can edit the http headers, but unless you override the java part, they will detect you.

javascript navigator object. It is used by many statics like analytics and adsense to get data on users. You think they get it just from the http headers. Come on, they are much smarter than that.
